: Weekend Report: 2/16-2/17
ih4ever 02-17-2008, 08:31 PM Sat: sat around and watched movies all day, since i thought my dad was workin all day, so i couldnt do what needed to be done with his help, but ended up he only worked til 10 and didnt call me to tell me:(
o and i got in a car accident with my brand new 02' f-250:mad3: drivin down the freeway early sat. mornin, and went to switch lanes, i looked in my side mirror didnt see anybody for miles so moved to the right and felt the tire grab and then shove me back to the left!! i was like WTF was that!?! looked behind me and saw headlights in my rear view mirror... o shit!!:( did nothing to my truck just lost couple oz of rubber :flipoff2: from my tire hitting the side of the girls dads brand new lowered honda. just didnt see it, it was under my view of my front right hood section. no dents, just rubber and sum paint rubbed off... but there goes some insureance money:shaking::(
Sun: went to hone my 350 and install new rings on the pistons, but NOBODY in chico had a ring set for a sb 350!!!:mad3::eek: so i wait til tues. so i took my timing cover and intake manifold to my dads sandblaster and cleaned and painted em. so during the week ill dissasemble the engine and hone and re-ring and put back together...:shaking: didnt get shit done, and of course im one of the lucky ones and get to work tomorrow:homer:
Dirt Boy 02-17-2008, 10:27 PM Sat. hung out with my wife and SIL who is visiting w/ her 3 month old. Sun. Worked :( but did some small repair on my driver side floor panel late in the day and adjusted the carb. Hope to take some time off this week to do some scout work.
BLK Scout 800 02-17-2008, 11:05 PM Sat I finished my bosses 4 door K30 on Rocks and 46'' claws :smokin:
Sun I picked up a Suzuki 80 Quad fo my son.
tsm1mt 02-17-2008, 11:16 PM Went to Bozeman and abused my street Scout "ice" racing..
http://www.m4x4a.org/gallery2/d/43476-2/img_3655.jpg
Did a lot better than I expected, and made it pretty far before my two losses.
Wife n' child were about cold enough by then, so we loaded up and headed home.
While in Bozeman on Saturday, visited the RV shop and they're supposed to be delivering my new pop-up camper on Tuesday or Wednesday.
I'm hoping I'm not proven an idiot.. pop-up weighs in just under 2,000lbs. Plan is that I can tow it behind any of the Scouts, the Travelall, my single-cab pickup, or the Travelette.
But the primary use is to give this "doubles" concept a go.
6,000lbs 166" WB 1T Travelette pulling my 16' deck tandem-axle dual-braked car trailer (with one of several Scout IIs on it, the lightest being around 4,000lbs, up to probably 6k) with an equalizer (which has been rock solid under almost every circumstance - had it sway once when the Scout had no shocks and got to rocking through an S-canyon, and once when I had insufficient tongue weight with that Chevy flat-bed C&C barely on the trailer).
Then put the 2,000lbs ~16.75' OAL pop-up behind the car trailer.
I'm hoping the rest of the setup is heavy enough it'll be a non-issue.
One thing that bugs me is the surge brakes on the pop-up. I'd rather have electric (my controller will handle 4-axles).
I do plan on upgrading the hitch on the car-trailer to an A-frame 2 5/16" heavy-duty unit first. There's not enough extra there with the 2" setup it currently has.
jdjanda 02-18-2008, 08:02 AM Man I had a busy weekend mounting my CB Antenna and running the wire :D
scout254 02-18-2008, 08:27 AM Finished the rock lights and back up lights on the CJ7:grinpimp:

Finally worked on the scout:shaking:
Had to rebuild part of the front bumper, thanks to night wheeling with Blkscout800:flipoff2: Still got a ways to go until driveable.:(

Urban Wheeler 02-18-2008, 08:34 AM Saturday I helped do some sheet metal on some XRRA buggies, Sunday I put calipers on my brother's Subaru.
binderbound 02-18-2008, 11:08 AM Sat- Got bikes and gear loaded and ready for sunday. Did some more trouble shooting on the GF's FI system. Had a belated Valentines dinner at Claim Jumper. God damn thats good food.
Sun- got up at the ass crack of dawn to go riding. I love desert riding. Had a couple close calls with head on's but nobody died. Every time out the GF gets faster and faster:eek:

CabtopXLC 02-18-2008, 11:23 AM Finished converting/rebuilding the T-19, minus the PTO covers and lube, for the DD. Stuck a Heep 300 on it until the STaK OD arrives in 3-4 weeks.
Snoopy 02-18-2008, 12:41 PM Did little stuff around the place, swapped out evo's shocks to 9000s, mounted up the pass side seat, and took it for another spin around the block. Man, having some serious issues with fuel delivery. Even with a new napa pump and a new filter the gas works one minute, then doesn't the next. Checked for kinks and such but everything is 100%. Going to a eletric pump now ~ finish that off once and for all. Still have to disassemble the links, paint them, and put everything back together for the last time.
Binder 02-18-2008, 04:31 PM Nicest weather of the year thus far and I didn't wheel.:(
gustav129 02-18-2008, 05:37 PM Sat -
Oil change and tune up on Exploder. Went to change a tire on my gf's cousin's rig, and then put a plug in the screw hole.
Sun -
Watched Daytona 500, American Gladiators, and Knight Rider
Figured out budget for tools and rear disc brakes from upcoming paycheck.
Diesel Smoke 02-18-2008, 05:50 PM My weekend:
Thursday:
Got a grand total of 4 hours of sleep before a representative of the Oregon State Police showed up at my door for a oral background interview. One of the last steps before I find out if I am going to get my new job. Spent the rest of the day watching the duals at Daytona, then at 12:30 am met a co-worker and went out to the bar to play cribbage.
Friday:
....I don't really remember what I did Friday, but ended up playing X-box online with friends, then having a friend come over at about 1am to play some pool. Went to be at 4 and got up at 9 on Saturday to go to a local gun show and then went shooting at teh gun club, home shower and then off to work on Saturday night.
It's so nice to be back in the work week and getting 8 hours of sleep. It's now Wednesday for me, so my weekend is oh so near!!:flipoff2:
misterfubar 02-18-2008, 06:22 PM Saturday: Birthday party for my 5 yo nephew, shouldn't have taken all day but it did.
Sunday: Cleaned guns all morning, watched the race all afternoon and did some shopping that night.
Today: My wife's first day back at work since Keira was born so I got to watch her all by myself. We caught up on some TV shows, ate and pooped all day. It was good.
No Scout progress... in fact I've been throwing around the idea of getting rid of it.

Tom you know that is only legal in mt if the first trailer is a gooseneck not a bumper pull

That made me laugh, thinking back to them days.
Currently out of town and working crazy hours. F'ed around with my rear leaf packs before leaving as one side is sitting lower. Need to add a leaf or find a nice doner set at the JY.

Do you have any idea where I could find that rule? I've been looking.. and while I haven't found the MCA code, I've found a number of places indicating ball-ball doubles are OK here.
On the MCA, however.. they snuck in a change to the Junk Vehicle laws during the last session.
It used to be, if it ran, or was licensed, it can't be junk. Now if it's a non-op with a PERM license, it can still be labeled junk.
:mad3:
So if the county decides my spare body tub is non-op and they get upset about it being permanently tagged, I guess I'll just have to go get the CBU plate for it and pay my ~$50 annual dues. :)

Ha!!! I knew it!!! :flipoff2:
misterfubar 02-18-2008, 08:45 PM Ha!!! I knew it!!! :flipoff2:
Find me a cheap tub that doesn't have the Flintstone power mod and I'll jump all over it. :flipoff2:
The more I look at my body the more I realize it isn't really worth fixing.

I do not know the code but I have a friend that got a ticket for that.... might call the mt dot and ask they should know best.... I have found calling to scale house on the intersate got faster answers

they allways find the loop holes and plug them........ just put a big tarp over it then they wont know if it is stack of wood or a scout

My mom is a Federal DOT and knows the State DOT folks. I'll have her confirm for me, but... for those interested in Montana towing law..
(16) "Dolly or converter gear" means a device consisting of one or two axles with a fifth wheel and trailer tongue used to support the forward end of a semitrailer, converting a semitrailer into a trailer.
(63) "Semitrailer" means a vehicle, with or without motive power, other than a pole trailer, designed for carrying property and for being drawn by a motor vehicle and constructed so that some part of its weight and that of its load rests upon or is carried by another vehicle.
(75) (a) "Trailer" means a vehicle, with or without motive power, other than a pole trailer, designed for carrying property and for being drawn by a motor vehicle and constructed so that no part of its weight rests upon the towing vehicle.
(78) "Truck" or "motortruck" means a motor vehicle designed, used, or maintained primarily for the transportation of property.
(79) "Truck tractor" means a motor vehicle designed and used primarily for drawing other vehicles and not constructed to carry a load other than a part of the weight of the vehicle and load drawn.
Combine those definitions with 61-10-104. Length -- definitions.
(4) A passenger vehicle or truck of less than 2,000 pounds "manufacturer's rated capacity" may not tow more than one trailer or semitrailer, and this combination may not have a length in excess of 65 feet.
(can't tow more than one trailer with your Ford Ranger)
Hmm.. the rest speaks to over-length combinations, and specifically mentions special permits for truck-trailer-trailer (not semi-trailer) combos over 75' combined length and under 95'.
I'd better do more research and nail down the exact law.. or talk Michelle into a new gooseneck trailer, too. :)
edit: got the cell # of the man that should have the answers for me.. I'll call tomorrow.
edit2: Made the call, ball-on-ball doubles are legal under 75'. Need break-away brakes on anything over 3,000lbs. I suppose I should finally refit my car trailer with a break-away actuator, since it's never had one.
Being legal still doesn't answer the "how dumb is this" factor, but it's at least legal to give it a shot.

Good eye. Yeah I took it off the other transmission for a different pose shot for the club web page. I'm anxious to get the stack though.

Could probably call a couple folks and find you an awesome tub.... the downside is it'd most likely be in Cali or somewhere else on the west coast. Maybe you could sling it and have a Chinook drop it at your house.:laughing:
uglyscout 02-19-2008, 08:18 AM Nothing but house projects....
My weld on beadlock kit did arrive Saturday morning via Binderbound (Thanks for the delivery!!) Now I just need about 10 hours to weld them up and bolt them together...

Now git-er-done! Trail ride in a few weeks. You have FI, gears, bead locks, and a trailer. Now you have no excuse not to try the gnarliest lines possible:evil::evil::grinpimp:
