Anyone every consider a 235 series Saginaw power steering pump off a medium duty Chevy/Gmc truck to power thier Mile Marker hydraulic winch? Or even for a hydro assist? Ive got an 87 medium truck service manual that says maximum output on some is 4.25 GPM and relief valve set at 1550 psi.

Maybe theres some room for improvement there, like with the P series pumps?

And of course those trucks came through with small and bigblock gas engines, so theres your brackets...

That is an interesting idea. I've thought about it, but I haven't been able to find much out about them. Do you have a part number? Price?

Anybody?

C'mon... Somebody must've looked into this before. Anybody know anything about these? The pump sorta LOOKS like it might just fit in the stock GM reservoirs... Might require some custom bracketry, looks like the pulley might end up being too far forward, but if you make your own brackets, that could probably be dealt with. I could only find one listing that gave a price, and it was $250, but the pump puts out some serious flow and pressure bone stock without being some heavily massaged, running right on the ragged edge of reliability type of thing, and $250 is a bargain considering those numbers. I'm no PS expert, so if this is not feasible, somebody pipe up and say so, but it's got me curious.

i also wonder if you got one of those pumps that has the hydroboost brake system if you could use those fittings for the winch? or use them instead of having to tap the box?

The only extra fitting the hydroboost pumps have is a 2nd return line. They still only have one pressure port. The press. line runs from the pump to the hydroboost to the steering box and back to the pump (possibly via a cooler). The H-boost has its own low press return to the pump.

I was looking through an A1 Cardone catalog last week at the parts store and they offer three reman'd P/Ns. I looked them up by p/n on Rockauto.com. 20-300 $58.79 + $50 core, 20-301 $108.79 +$35 core, and 20-302 $108.79 +$45 core.

so far I don't know which pump is better, the factory manual lists 4 in a low output category that has a max of 3.5GPM and 1100 psi and 15 in the higher output category w/3.85-4.25GPM and 1550 psi

I would like to see some pictures if you can get them. Thats the route I will be going, but I'd like to run the big pump for the winch
