: picts- wheeling
Minehunter 07-07-2002, 07:52 PM Well-
We hit the Miller Jeep Trail on Saturday morning. Was a perfect wheeling day- started out from the flying J in Frazier Park- me, Alex, Jim, Dan and his wife Stacy, Jims friend Paul. A very cool group to wheel with. When we hit the trail head we ran into two more couples. They had not been on the Miller trail yet so we all hooked up together. We had 7 rigs, 10 people and one dog. The two couples we hooked up with should be checking out this site- I'm sorry but I can't remember their names- but they were a great group of people- had a great time.
Next time- a few more from here should hook up with us.

Just messing back.
moveaside 07-07-2002, 09:30 PM Might be a little show and shine but at least in every pic they're smiling. I hate fuckers who go out and look agitated and pissed the whole time they're out wheeling. Looks like you guys had fun, same kind of wheeling a lot of the other guys on the board do? No. But just the same you got the family out of suburbia for a day.
LordRatner 07-07-2002, 11:27 PM I see the grren TJ has the hi-lift on the front of his bumper.... prolly wont happen to him/her, but my friends came loose in pismo while in the sand (duh) and it was not pretty, kinda like an anchor, only it just breaks

What did somebody do steal your lunch money and now you're taking it out on us?
You post pictures of some beginner trail ride on this site and expect to not get flamed? Glad you're wheeling but sh!t man most of us wheel areas where the road to get to the tough stuff is worse than that. That's not rock crawling, looks like a show and shine event. He was just telling it like it is :D Then you go and start calling names :shaking:

Hey- I got to use my ride every day- I didn't come on and say look at us kick ass- I didn't say we were rock crawling- At least it is not a poser jeep sitting in my driveway- I don't have the bennifit of endless money to pour into my ride- and have another one to drive to work. I sure don't have mud puddles in my backyard to play in-
And yes- give me back my lunch money-
Anyway- some people on here are just pricks- some a helpful but some are just full of themselfs- you try and get good information and you just get bullshit back- hell you you don't know something dont post. I don't know who knows what, who is a poser, who is not - one thing is I won't pretend to be something I'm not - or say I have something I don't- I've just seen to many assholes here- I've seen lots of good people too- once bitten- twice shy.

4Bangler 07-08-2002, 07:25 AM Hey, at least he got to hit some trail over the holiday weekend, as tame as it may have been. This is the most action my Jeep saw this weekend.....
http://www.thunderbayoffroaders.rockcrawler.com/images/parade1.jpg http://www.thunderbayoffroaders.rockcrawler.com/images/parade2.jpg
.....my girlfriend had housework planned for me for the rest of the weekend.
Would you believe my Jeep actually suffered some carnage from the parade? I managed to break yet another leaf spring center pin backing down off the trailer, actually, it was prolly broke for six months, just finally shifted the axle on the 4th.

Ramstein 07-08-2002, 11:08 AM I can tell ya that Millers is no beginer/newbie trail. It may not have all the rocks you find in JV but it has plenty of technical stuff. Ive seen first hand what happens to newbies on Millers and it aint pretty. Its fairly easy but you better have your shit together.
In fact, I was comin off the mountain saturday and tore the ring off a beadlock and wasted a 40" bogger.

Sorry to hear about the beadlock- that is one badass ride you have- I'd love to take that thing out for a day- I missed getting a picture of your ride- looks like you were having a good day- I was the 2nd jeep back- your buddy got out without anyother problems???
Take it easy-

We camped at Cottonwood creek for a few days and ran into you guys on our way out. Im planning a trip to the hammers in late Oct, if your group is interested lemme know. I always like hookin up with new peeps, Ive met dozens off this board over the years.
The guy in the Bronco kept overheating (electric fan) but we nursed him out OK.
Heres a pic for ya!

Minehunter 07-08-2002, 01:28 PM I'd be up for it- as long as my 31 inch tires can go there!
I'll see who else is game
Thanks!
evilpsych 07-08-2002, 03:32 PM sure rammstein.. be up for it lemme get lockers before i go to hammers though haha..
..
pretty damn nice rig you had. i was the first YJ you passed on the trail.
the pictures dont do it justice for the all the slick baby heads and moon-dirt on that trail. I've seen fullsizes snap axles and blow beads before they even got to that ledge you see everyone going up and over.. that ledge is actually at about a 40 degree angle.. good pics are hard to take

You guys can get your feet wet on Aftershock. Its short but tough enough for stock or slightly modified rigs that it could take all day. But its doable :D Plus you can hook up with some other jeep peeps from the area.
Lookin forward to it.

yeah and we so much of you and your jeep on hard trails  before you start talking shit about someone else how about you post some pic's of your somewhere other than your drive way. besides last i saw you didn't even have a full cage so i can't imagine you run your "tough stuff" and don't even feel the need for a cage.

LMFAO too funny!
I feel the love here, I'm feeling the love
nobody20 07-09-2002, 06:40 AM Minehunter, go to this link and see why you want a roll cage before you roll. Also, go to the video and watch the roll.
http://www.stu-offroad.com/rollcage/roll-3.htm
Hope you survive your first roll real roll, not just a flop, so you can have your battle scares and get a cage. Everbody that has a Jeep ougth to have a quality fabricated roll cage.

Got a few digitals (just got the camera) from the test run at Ken Shupe's playground in SC and from a spot called "The Hush Hole" (also in SC). I'm trying right now to install the driver to read the memory card but I can't get it to work:mad: with Windows98.
I feel the need for a cage but am currently out of resources for the proper investment so I run w/ what DC gave me and just hope I'm smart enough to hit R or N and save it. I was on this past trip :D

I hear you, building a jeep aint cheap, Good to hear you got it up and running. I got in a group buy on the JU site ( ya, I know ) for a cage kit from Tennesee offroad for my YJ. It ran me about $190.00 to my front door. I have a buddy thats a welder and is going to weld it in and build the frame tie in brakets for me. You might keep a eye out on JU for another group buy.

I'm not into the battle scars- I gotta drive mine everyday- don't want flat black- don't want missing fenders etc.
Your right though- we all need a roll cage- a good quality roll cage- I have one on the list but as I said- my budget isn't endless- at least not yet. I have a few other toys to deal with- can't stick it all into one thing.
I don't plan on killing myself in a jeep rolling down a hill.

Had to download a driver from the Sandisk website that was mysteriously left off the CD ROM they give you. Then had to get it to the right folder for Windows to find it when loading. Then had to remove and reinstall the USB controller in order for it to recognize the card reader. All of this would've been negated if I had Windows 2000 instead of the second edition from Windows 98. But if you have the first edition of Windows 98 then none of this is possible and you're screwed because you can no-longer download the upgrade for windows98 first edition  Gotta love M-Soft

Minehunter 07-11-2002, 09:39 PM Now that looks like a fun project.
That should be a kick in the ass when it is done.
Good luck with it.
I noticed the black (or maybe green, can't tell on cheap monitor at work) YJ is running the stock 15X6 steelies. I thought I was the only one that still had a set of these.
Does anyone know what size tires he is running? Look pretty big for those wheels. Do they rub at all?
I have 235/75 Pirelli Scorpion AT's on mine ( they are about 29"X9.25"). Mine rub on the LCA's at full lock. After seeing his tires, I wish I would have gone bigger and more aggressive, maybe a 31" Scorpion MT would work. It's my first Jeep, live and learn.
I'm still too cheap to buy new wheels, though.
SCORPION 07-22-2002, 09:26 AM they look like 31"x10.5 TA's
