: Interest in Rocky Mtn FTOY series?

Reading an earlier post, there seemed to be some interest in putting together a informal comp series in colorado, utah, wyoming. Most of the interest was shown in June 2007. How many ftoy owners would be currently interested in a few ftoy get-togethers?

Since I have never competed, I don't know many of the comp guys, but do you think this would be something WEROCK or some of the other sanctioning bodies might be interested in helping with?

Great post, anything that will benefit F-Toy is positve in my mind. Hopefully, other F-Toy guys will respond.

As far as I know Brian (FROR), Albuquerque Jim (#81), MT4Runner (#86), and myself (#F002)are the only f-toys built to specs in the area. I would love to have a regional series but WE rock doesnt really have any events in the area. There is also no current series (like CAL Rocs) running in the region, so it would have to be a stand alone series. Anyone from the BOD want to chime in here on what criteria might need to be met for a sanctioned F-toy series that would qualify us for the nationals. I know the first step would be to have a few more in the area built to specs, so get building:flipoff2:. In the meantime we can always get together and try to out do eachother on the trails. PM me if your in the area and want to get a closer look at one.

I say if you guys want to get together and put on your own comp then go for it. You should be able to find an experienced judge or 2 to help make it more official. You won't be elligible for any of the Ftoy prize money at this point but who knows if your informal series takes off this could be duplicated in other parts of the country. I plan to have Ftoys competing in Eastern events other than WE-Rock this year just to highten our exposure. There has been some enterest in starting other Ftoy series' at local events such as Hannibal and i'm all for it.

I'm cool with informal comps. We could probably come up with a cool location in Montana, as well (I think we're only 9-10 hours from Pook, and 9 hrs from SLC). I'm not competitive for the sake of being competitive and trying to beat other people---but I do enjoy competitions for an excuse to get together, and to challenge myself and learn more about my rig than I would in an afternoon of trail riding.

"If you build it, they will come"....I believe if a comp/comp series were closer to MT that there might be 1-3 more people around here who could be convinced to build a comp-legal FToy.

Rocky mountain style ftoy series, Sounds Cool.

I know of a few places that could hold events like that. I used to be the site coordinator for Uroc Events in 2003 and know of a few utah areas that could host formula toy events, 3 locations from northern utah to cedar city.

that is if there would be enough competitors to make it worth while, also if not enough ftoy alone does anyone think a Rocky mountain regional series for multiple classes would do well (assuming the rules and classes would be done in a way that would be fair to the majority of competitors)

:shaking: You have everything you need to build an FToy in your shop and yard right now, except the chassis!!

I told Chris he needs to buy the green FToy after he sells the 350/350 4Runner!!

Easily a single, or even several events could be held. No money, just bragging rights. We cant shut anything off from anyone else, unless its private property (whatever happened with the Kremmling Crawl?) Informal gathering, keep it under 25 rigs, no issues. There are several trails that could handle this fine, even in CO alone. There is also CORE.

As for spotting/driving/judging. just switch off, you drive one course, then judge for the next. It would be on the honour system, but I think everyone would be fair anyway.

If it gets bigger/wants to get bigger, talk to the folks in WE rock for advise. An honestly, open it for very capable trail rigs as well. Just keep it invite only to keep the numbers controlled, and make things go smoothly.

I know! But I'm running out of vehicals that actually run and drive. Gotta have a few backups before I restart another project. The cage part is the big $ item when I get around to it. I have to focus. Please, no shiney pictures to distract me.

A few of us on annother board that I wont pimp here are looking at the logistics of a CAL ROCS style series in CO/Rockies for 2009. Even talk of a KOH style finnally. For now lets get them together and run them! dont think finding a good trail will be hard in our area, the options are infinate in our region.

I would be interested in putting something together for 09. I am hoping to be able to run the WERock series in 09 if things come together in time. But to be able to run something close to home would be great.

Brian...We need to talk

Good Thread...

I will be a newb to comps, but I could attend more if things were closer. :D

Farmington isn't too far from UT, CO, or AZ.

Definetely would be cool if a rocky mountain series happened. My wife and I really want to build a FTOY and having some comps close would be great.

i would gladly hold and f-toy comp on my land in the black hills of SD, but only if you let us poor unfortunate reg toy guys give a heads up shot against the real deal:D

I've been to jasons folks place, bought some parts from him that he had stashed out there. Did you get burned out during the fire? I'm really looking foward to the move back and wheeling some new trails, wasn't to much into rock crawling when I left the hills 10 years ago.

Is that an invite? Be glad to come up to SD. I think the Black Hills are ~6 hrs from here. Only problem is WY in the middle!

I have heard there is some serious wheeling spots in middle wyoming. I talked to a guy at EJS last year that said there was some hard stuff up there. He had a pretty set up rig as well.

I think we would be able to do something at the park in Rangely too. Could make a couple tough courses, just not a lot of them.
I might be able to get with the Metal Mashers in Kremmling too, see if they would be interested in something as well.

Sd would be cool too. Rapid City is only 8 hrs from here.

We would love to sanction any events that deal with rock crawling in the nation. As far as I am concerned, the more comps running our rules, the easier it is for people to jump back and forth. So if you know of any events, we would love to help out to an extent...

This might be a big question, but since I'm a newb to comps I'll ask...

Can you tell us what is required to start this ball rolling? Of course we need a location, besides that. Is it a number of rigs making a commitment? Do we need a corp. sponsor? Do we need a corp. to handle processing the entry fees and insurance?

I am sure there's a lot more to it than most of us understand.

There are A LOT of wheelers in the Rocky Mtn. Region...I bet we could fill a few classes, not just an F-Toy class.

This is really cool, Lil'.

I could see a Montana comp in 2009 or 2010.

Same questions as Albu. Jim.

Also, do you guys have any beta on insurance?

What would be required by WEROCK to include a Colorado event into the west series?
