Hey lt1yj , how bout some info on your 1 ton, like what kind of lift, how much lift, and how much did it cost? New springs for the rear or did you use blocks?

I bought this 4 weeks ago with the lift already installed, so I don't know cost on the components.
Superlift 5.5" lift. There is a 2" lift block in the rear. Pro Comp traction bars, 35" Pro Comp Xterrains with a 2.5" spacer between the rear duals. It's currently running 4:10 gears but I just purchased 4:56's to get the engine RPM back up.

I love the truck. Very simple, easy to fix if anything goes wrong (typically very cheap as well--Big block Chev parts are not tough to find, nor terribly expensive) if it just had a little more room (ext. cab or crew) I'd never think of getting rid of it.
Thanks for the comments!

Don't mean to be a downer, but I would Highly advise against lifting a tow vehicle if you tow another vehicle.

Well on a SFA GM 3/4 or 1 ton. A EZ ride 2.5" lift with some load range E 33" tires on a 10" width worked for me fine. The lift was just enough to keep the truck off the bump stops on big bumps/ railroad tracks etc. And the extra width of the wide rims was almost as good as having duals. Did this to a '77 K20 I had and it worked as well with a cab over camper as the '85 ford 2x dually that replaced it after a drunk took the Chevy out on 101.
87 chevy crewcab with 15 inches of lift and 44" boggers. I have pictures but can't seem to get them on here...anyone want to post them for me??

how long is that drop hitch like 36" damn bet that trailer bucks like no other over bumps
ben
It's 21" drop..had it built by a local machine shop. It bucks a little over bumps but not much worse then it did when it had 38's and used a 14" drop

That's funny lookin, but don't get me wrong. It just looks like the trailer belongs with a lowered show car. Have you ever thought about doing a spring over on the trailer or maybe some lifted springs? If you did, you could go to a 16" trailer tire and the extra lift would get the toungue a little closer to the truck hitch.
I don't know how to bring my picture from another thread, but check out my van in the thread "4wd van for tow rig?" I think it is one of the sweeter tow vehicles around!

RudeZuk! I saw you in that rig pullin that Zuki headin' west on I-80 a couple weeks ago, should have figured you would be on this board. Nice rigs! both of them! I like the longarm on the Ram, it's custom right? Same tires, too, huh? so you have 4 spares waiting at the tow rig? NICE.

It'll still tow pretty well, I'd assume. Probably pass anything but a gas station, won't it? You didn't get the $6K surcharge for the diesel (I'm trying to make you feel better about your truck.... ....)
