: Anyone running a Skyjacker 2.5" Lift on a TJ

Hey,

A friend just installed a Skyjacker 2.5" Lift on a TJ (4 banger with 5spd), now running 31" tires.

He tells me there is a bit of a driveshaft vibration. Haven't driven it myself, but I'm wondering if anyone else out there has run this setup and experienced the same thing?

He did install the tcase drop kit that came with the suspension so I am a bit suprised he's feeling anything.

Anyone have thoughts?

Thanks,
Nick

Not trying to offend you but try www.jeepsunlimited.com Most of the people here think if it vibrates or makes noise turn up the radio. Tell your buddy to use a CV driveshaft and SYE and it will go away.

Boy your just loads of help around here arn't you. Why don't you go over to JU.

The vibes are cause bescuase your driveshaft is operating at a diffrent angle. A Slip Yoke Elimnator(SYE) and a new driveshaft should fix the problem but a TC drop kit will work as well. The TC drop is cheaper but reduces ground clerance.

hmm My uncle has a 2.5" lift kit with 33s and he HAD a vibration problem but it just turned out to be his shaft. He had it balanced and he has no vibrations what so ever.

Also, Ive got a Skycrapper 4" on my TJ running 33s and all I have is a little vibration (barely noticeable)...shouldnt be that bad on his TJ.

Damn I cant wait till iget the RE LA, why didnt I do it right in the first place.....had to start somewhere right?

I can't believe I'm saying this but...... oh it hurts........ Moveaside is right on this time.

"Driveshaft /t-case drop vibration" from 2.5" lift questions are for JU. I'm sure it might have been covered here before, so search might help, but sh!t that's a pretty lame question that most begnners even know about.

Aw c'mon...
what's the big deal?

JU sucks.
Why not just let kids chill here & avoid the inevitable frustration with JU's inability to think outside the box?

You guys always say "Do it right the first time" with Jeep stuff, don't you? I agree with that. It's the reason I'm here... For the solid advice that's given by ACTUAL WHEELERS who aren't bound by what "everyone else thinks".

You don't consider spending heaps of money on a D35 cuz you know it's just gonna fail eventually.

Well, why the HELL do you recommend seeking advice from JU:girly: ??

NICKD: tell your :flipoff2:"buddy":flipoff2: to:
A. Quit worrying about the vibes, they can't be that bad w/ just 2.5" of lift.
B.Get an SYE w/ CV shaft & kick back, knowing your driveline is free from all invasive vibration.
C. Take that lift out, man!! All that vibratin' is bad for the groceries.

We recommend they seek advice for these types of questions on JU because 99% of the people here know the answer. That means that we've answered it hundreds of times to friends, club members, strangers who stop you in the parking lot, guys on the trail, through emails, in PM's..... You get the picture? I'm on this site with many others to avoid questions like this.

But can you blame people for going to the top for their info?

When I have questions, I want answers.
Not all that shit you get on JU.

With the subject line "2.5" lift on a TJ", I'd assume that you would be able to safely avoid that one.

MOVEASIDE,

I just find it ironic that someone who has so many wortless posts (see "Fund to send MOVEASIDE to JU" thread) would tell someone else to go other there.

And as far a that TC drop kit.....I don't know. They seem wedged pretty tight up your ass not sure anyone could get them out. :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

But we don't want to avoid it. We want to flame it so he tells his "buddy" not to bother posting topics like that on here again. That way the board can keep catering to more *advanced* tech and not "2.5" lift on a TJ" junk.

Look if you are not using a CV style DL you have to have the angle of the upper yoke and the lower yoke the same. If you can not get that with the adjustments on the control arms then go with a CV style DL and stop asking questions like this, it is that easy.:flipoff2:

Now if the dude was going to wheel it he would have got the four or more. What would be the purpose of a 2.5 lift to throw a trans case drop on it. You shouldn't even need one with a 2.5 lift. But your ass is suggesting one to the guy. If that's your train of thought then I'm thinking you did the same thing 'cause you wanted your ride to look cool when you cruise the mall. You probably got a trans drop on yours too :flipoff2: Guess it doesn't cause clearance issues with you on the little dust a trails you hit. I was polite to the guy he was begging for a flaming:nuke: Instead I pointed him in another direction and gave him some real advice. Don't come half-stepping up to me if that's the best you got you better sit down with a pad and paper and take some notes.:flipoff2: :crybaby: P.S. the dude already has the trans case drop look again its not working

Fawk that, you don't need 4" lift to wheel. He should save that 200 for a locker. He wanted to get rid of the vibes and is probablyt not interested in spending $$ for a SYE or CV shaft. Cheapest way is a TC drop. But WTF do I care.

Yeah...my shit is the tightest at the mall...I get all the bitches. I got you didn't I?? :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :p

The locker is a good way to go if the guy didn't like the vibes wait until he gets the jerks. See you later Weasel. If I'm ever in your area I'll give you a PM maybe you could show me the local trails.

Well there is nothing that I know of in the Billings area that is all that hard that I know of, wheeled everwhere I know stock. Got some nice scenery but that's about it, unless muds your thing. But I'm only here during the summer. I'm down in Rapid City, SD the rest of the year, so if your ever down there they got some fun stuff.
