I think he knows it will work he is asking what seal ( IE part number or model of vehicle)you have to install because the vacuum disconnects don't have a axle seal at the carrier do you install the seal at the carrier or do you replace the seal in the vacuum disconnect cast section im looking to do this to can any one help
thanks

i think you can put a normal d30 axle shaft seal from an xj or tj and slide it in by the ring gear. then pull all the guts out of the disconnect and seal the opining with a flat piece of material.

well it is actually for a friend of mine so i have not seen the shaft and carrier. But I do know he went down to 4wheel parts supply to buy the seal and the guy asked if he machined the housing to fit the seal i dont know really what the story is because i have not seen the shit but my buddy said the part the guy gave him at 4 wheel was wrong and was wondering if anyone knew a specific seal that will work for sure. So I guess he needs part numbers.

There is a special seal used in the disconnect area, the machining was not done on the right side of the housing for the seal like on the left side. A firend of mine used a seal from NAPA when we built his 30 for his ZJ I'll call him later to find out the part number.

I'm also looking into this swap for my D30. I have heard that you can just put in the aftermarket greasable axle tube seals in lieu of the internal seals. I'd like to hear someone weigh in on that...

Go to www.stu-offroad.com for a good write up on this. Warn makes a good kit with two seals (one next to the carrier and one to replace the one by the vac. motor) and the cover plate. If you make your own plate the National part # are471763 &471354. You will have to remove the carrier to install the inner seal. There is no reglar seal seat in the pass. side of a disconect axle.
