I helped my Dad put a Scout II Dana 44 under the front of his Scout 800. The problem we are having now is that the stock (Scout II) brake lines are a little bit to short. Is there an inexpensive way to gain a few inches of length? Are there any other vehicles that shares similar brake line (soft line) fittings as the Scout II and is a little longer than the stock IH ones?

thank you,

There are no cheap solutions.

Cheapest is an 'extension' available - see the part #s on my webpage in the FAQ area.

Other routes involve using a 2wd Chevy hose and boring out the brass block to 7/16" to fit the SII calipers.. or pony up for the Skyjacker DOT stainless stuff..

I used the extensions on Tom's site and they work great...I used my SII brake lines on chevy calipers with no mods other than using the chevy banjo bolts.

What do you consider inexpensive? I got a set of Scout II extended stainless brake lines from Jim Maulis for I think $75 (front and rear)

OK, I found some brake lines that worked. If anyone is slinging a Dana 44 front from a Scout II under a Scout 800 here's what you can use. Front brake lines from a 1978 Jeep Wagoneer. They have the small female end to match up with the small male hard-line fitting on the Scout 800 (Scout II's have larger fittings) and they have a 7/16" banjo block to match the Dana 44 caliper. The rear line from a Wagoneer also works for a Scout 800.

A set of three Procomp SS lines cost $85.
