just want to know what everyones thinks about putting a spol in my dana 44. i mean the only time i will ever have it in 4 wheel drive is in the sand or mud, so rather then spend tree or four times us much on a locker. im thinking about a spol. or will i just be breaking axles? what do you guys think?

Like what was said above, you must mean SPOOL. Also are you putting it in front or rear? Since you said something about only using 4wd in sand / mud, im going to assume you are thinking about putting it in the front, since the front axle would most likely be dormant when in 2wd. I would say dont put it in the front unless you have strong steering assist. Though in sand or mud, i dont know. Ive never had a spool in the front, but i have heard they are a bear to steer.

If you plan on going with a 60 eventually whats the point of upgrading the 44? Take that money and put it towards a 60

i just have so many parts to buy for my build right now. and i need to make this a driver soon. spending 700 on my 44 sounds alot better then spending 3000 an a 60.

$3000 for a 60???
Look around, you can get them WAY cheaper!!
I got a whole 87 1 ton truck with a tbi 454/400/205/60/14ff running and driving for $2000
I bet if you look you can find a 60 for between 800 and 1200

is it worth throwing away $700, until you get a 60? If you plan on driving on the road, id say no.
