I am two years too late with this idea that I have but I wanted to fish it out and see if I can get my MJ and XJ ready for the nuclear terror attack, or at least learn how to properly defeat EFI or MPI injection.
The simple obvious way to do this would be to Utilize the thinking behind the NUTTER BYPASS and un-plug the computer. Next thing would be to swap in a motorcraft 2100 or other equivilant primitive plumbing carb on the intake.
What I dont know is how I would hook up fuel delivery from the EFI/MPI electric fuel pump?? I have heard of electric fuel pump conversions for carburators but I dont know how they work. What regulates the fuel spray on that kind of setup??
I do understand that EFI/MPI uses a number of values collected from multiple sensors to determine how much air is allowed into the throttle body and how long the injectors spray into the intake. Defeating the computer and the fuel injectors would be easy, just unplug.
I could then splice in a T into the fuel line and hook up the 2100 or other carb, but what would regulate the fuel flow??
Can anyone eloborate on this??
Also does anyone think that some how the stock MPI/EFI throttle body could be modded, possibly with a throttle body spacer with a fuel jet in it, that could be installed on the vehicle permantly under the throttle body that could be set up to bypass the MPI/EFI in case of emergency and use the throttle body to carburate instead of inject??
