Was a long weekend, if you didn’t wheel or wrench you should be banned. So let’s hear it fawkers.

My list:

*Finished the auto rebuild, cept for the accumulator spring I left out, quick fix :rasta:
*Roughed in the front hoop, need to weld it up and add the floor plates
*Bent Josh C’s hoops, and RockG’s front hoop, we might just bend up a couple kits and sell them :D
*Laid a coat of glass for the new fan shroud

I guess I should be banned then:flipoff2:

helped mike move.
Brought the chassis over to my house. Barrel rolled it in my front yard.
I think my CJ-7 is turning into a rock buggy now :D
I built a chicken coupe only to find I needed to add two more feet of hidth to the whole thing.
Damn chickens still got out.
Had Brian (1uglyranger) and his wife over for dinner.

watched two movies today

Ah I guess I'm not gonna get banned....

I welded Brians trackbar bracket back to his frame.

Sunday: Went up to Kearney, NE to the BIG Walmart. Came home, drank beer. Nothing to exciting.

Repeat from another place but....

:flipoff2:

Saturday morning we left at 9:00am from Shoney's in Cookeville, TN after our meeting. We drove up to a place called Crab Orchard..famous for its rock quarries and the type of stones it produces....some of you may have it on your houses...anyway:

Had to drive 60 miles to the trail...gotta love the MT/R's on the interstate....the guys on bias's were getting beat to death. TAhe MT/R's go GREAT!!! Gotta love them and the size!!!

I had a really shitty trip. :anger:

On the way up there I had to stop since I had neglected to replace the radiator cap after topping off....nice lady at the Shell market provided me with some extra water....had to put almost 4 gallons in the rad...I figure it was about empty...temp was still at 190.

Later once we get to the trail there are all these Jeeps and a couple of tube toys and a s-10 thingy on a blazer frame...purpose built rigs. Us four are the only ones to try this vertical gourge red clay wash out in the woods. All the Heeps took the alt
route....

So I take off up this ravine...pics to come....I am making it fine...straddle the hard part....MT/R's are like glue and clawing all the way.....then I drop into the gulley to cross since a tree ended my line...I come out of the gulley and...well fawk....no steering to the right....WTF??? I torque on the steering wheel...WTF??? No turning....ok must be lodged on something....spotter says back up...I do....no change....I try to turn....same shiat.... I gas it up and out of the gorge to the left...I come out and the fawnkin' stock front spring hanger is BROKEN....and resting on the steering arm...oh no wonder no steering.....I ask the spotter if he's blind...he says...OH didn't see that....no shiat you say...I get to looking...damn...broken powersteering belt too....and I have smacked the passenger rear cap on a root...so much for all show...but I do know this rhino lining guy..hmmmm.......

So we weld it up with batteries and off we go again....friggin key won't crank it so I hot wire it and go on....later on he back side of the mountain it breaks again and out comes the battery welder....I am really getting pissed at this point....got a weldernator laying on the bench back home just waiting to be installed....

Guy welds it back on and I limp home......the whole time my financee only says once....I told you not to try it....I tell her she needs to ride with the Heepers next time.

Oh well...guess I will be a wrenching biatch this weekend.

Those little retaining rings for the steering wheel lock ring are a real PITA to remove and I stopped last night when I couldn't get it back on....oh well...back to it....

Is that like when you leave pudding in the refrigerator... and it just sits there... no one ever pays it any attention... then after enough time goes by, it turns to Penicillin :flipoff2:

I guess I'm a slacker too....:(

But since I have a 1yr old me and the wife "TRADE" weekends.

For example last weekend I got to work on my truck, this weekend I did all the honey-do's (and there was a lot) one of which included primering the china hutch....anyway you get the idea.

So I'll be on top of things next weekend.:flipoff2:

Last week I took my drag link in to the fab shop to get the material to lengthen it. I'll do that either throughout the week or next weekend. Then I'm gonna do some body work, and while I'm moving the truck around, I'm gonna see if I can pinpoint that stalling problem.

I finished a few things on the truck, did some wheelin, and a little bit of body work on my 1/4 panel:nuke:

Broke my Shiat wheelin'...:D

Took the suspected broken hub apart only to find that it wasn't broken at all. I guess, it wasn't fully engaged--->POS Ford Hubs:mad: ..these things suck!

Now, for the "Other" problem...a rattling when shifting through gears...I started at the rear end...jacked up the two tires so that I could run it without moving and the first thing that I noticed was that my rear wheels differentiate about a 1/4 turn...which is weirtd cause I welded it really tightly..I think something went :nuke: . I am having my buddy get me some more spiders so I can weld another set up this week. I am still not sure if this is my rattling problem though...it seems to be coming from the tranny more than anywhere else...

Other than that, saw Minority Report and Mr. Deeds, Judged CFTC, watched the video for the Calrocs-Reno event, drank some  ...ya know, normal weekend stuff.:rasta:

Hmmm...

Finally put the new t'case adapter and twin-stick T'case into the racer.

Had to cut the trans tunnel to get the shifters to clear.. haven't finished cutting the tunnel cover yet. I need a torch so I can just bend the darn things.

Refilled the 727.. needed one more pint, so I then dumped in 10w30.. noticed it wasn't red.. so I took an ATF bath and dropped the pan.. which was good since it needed a new filter anyhow.. finally got the new gasket, filter, and more *ATF* into it..

Pulled the racer into the shop.
Worked on fabbing up my West Coast Jr mirror mount brackets. Started with some 2x2x.120 angle.. bandsawed them into a 2x1x.120 angle, then cut the "2" side into a single 1" wide strip in the middle of my 4" long section of angle.. all that to make brackets that would re-use the factory holes in the doors on my Travelette.

Hmm.. helped replace the fuel filter on the POS '88 Jetta my brother "had" to buy since his POS '89 Bronco II was in the tranny shop *AGAIN* - needs a $2000 rebuild every 2 years..

Returned the Mountaineer's RTI Ramp to Bozeman yesterday - 100 miles each way in the Travelall, between 9-10mpg.

Looked at two 2wd T'alls for sale while there.. one's a barn-door unit..

Didn't get the title for my '74 100 4x4.. hasn't been notarized yet..

BBQ'd on Saturday. :D

Waiting to get the radiator recored for my Travelette - JDJanda - a tip.. don't let your spare radiator sit for 10 years DRY or it'll leak like a seive. Rusted inside AND out.. so the "good" radiator from the 100 4x4 is just a pair of tanks that I'm having recored.

Hmmm.. spent $140 on a grille and lower valance for the Travelette.. ouch.

STILL waiting on my bikini tops from 4WPW..

Hmm.. I *looked* at my trail rig. "Yep, still parked there.."

Helped a buddy get his $100 Scout II running a little better - he got a great deal. Grrrr.

Finally mounted my bench-grinder, too. To a piece of 2x2 tubing that slides into one of the receivers on my shop cart. :D

I need to get some heavier-duty wheels for it, I think.. with the ancient Vise in one receiver, bench grinder in another, and the bender in a third.. plus the MIG welder and such.. yeah, it's a little fat.

WTF, are we turning into a sewing circle with all the talk of body work?

What's wrong with rattle bombs, a 5lb sledge, and a sawzall?

Those Seattle-ites like to look pretty - they don't care if it wheels well, as long as it looks good on the way to the Mall, or they can get it in the Calendar.

Why do you think I always win Ugliest Truck? And my trail rig is always "Runner-up" to boot!

Nothing wrong with flat-black, a sledge, and a sawzall for body work - unless it's my Tow rig. Dammit, I bought it because it looked nice.

Gotta have "ONE nice IH" in the fleet..

Eventually I'll have a streetable Scout that'll look halfway nice, too. :flipoff2:

Yeah, baby that's what I'm talk'n about.

How'd the cage hold up? I need to start adding the support bars for the cage, and I'm worried about supporting the Scout in that the same situation as your roll.
