How many of you would pay like $10 to wheel for a day on some extreme trails? I'm looking to buy some pristine gnarly wilderness in the Sierras out of Fresno. It has an elevation change of 2000 (2000-4000) feet in 160 acres so there will be some awsome trail material. The land is private of course and surrounded by national forest. I'm wondering if I bought it would people help recoup the cost by paying to wheel on some sierra rocks?

Hell, I'd kick in for a yearly fee for use of the property, plus some

lots of possible snags. check out the zoning before you buy it. (don't tell them what you want to do, just ask what it is) they may totally balk, if they find out you want to have a commercial rock crawling enterprise... I would just check it out first. It might be a breeze, it might not. It would be practically impossible here, where I live to get a zoning change.

Sounds like an awesome deal though... I would love to have an RV membership at rock crawling areas in the SW.

If I was in your area, YES, I would pay $10/day to wheel on private land. But I would be expecting some basic amenities such as bathrooms, food, snacks, drinks, etc. A'la the Badlands in Attica, IN.

Now if you were a buddy of mine that gave me and others "semi-exclusive" rights to the land and I wasn't being run over every 20 seconds by out of control bikes and quads, I'd give ya' $10/day to use it with no amenities. Hell, I'd be willing to fork over a much larger flat fee (say $100 or so) for "lifetime" access and I'd help ya' build trails ... just to have some quality private land to wheel on.

Sounds interesting. Sure, I'd be willing to pay $10.00/day. Would camping be available?

if it is granly enough, and close enough to a major roadway....2-lane from a highway is sufficient.....you might have a future venue for a comp event on your hands. if you have the means, and a lot of friends (PBB members) then go for it. i will drag my shiznit from utah out there for some fun!!:smokin:

There is a good guy here in Texas who has done just that... 800 acres of rock crawling fun! Katemcy Rocks (http://rock-it-land.com/katemcyrocks)

We also have the Texas Motorized Trail Coalition. TMTC (http://www.texasmotorizedtrails.com/) Think along the lnes of a larger group going in to obtaining property for off road trails (4x4, Bikes, ATV's). Barnwell Mountain is a fun place for a weekend of camping, and trail fun... only wish everyone would PACK OUT their trash! :mad3:

Would I pay to wheel? Well that depends. If it is $10 to get in and have some fun, then I would probably do it assuming the trails and obstacles were worth it. Now, if food was available, restrooms, drinks, etc. I would pay more for that. Ultimately I would like to see some sort of covered carport-like somewhere on the property where I could wrench on the Heep when I really break it. I'm not a shop snob, but if I am paying I would certainly like some area to work if need be. You could really pick up some $$$ with the little extras. Stock a few common parts, fluids, belts, hoses, etc. and sell them at the shop or something. Maybe have mobile welding as a service that could be bought. If you really got into it you could have quite the 4x4 playground where everything was taken care of.

If you were to do this out East you'd have lines at the gate every morning. Legal wheeling at $10 a day is a bargain.

Do yourself a favor if you decide to go this route and call Reid at Paragon, he's been thru hell and back with zoning issues etc. Once the local politicians see the green they'll have their hands out. Reid can give you alot of advice i'm sure, whether or not the zoning standards are similar.

Good Luck to ya!

I pay $25 per day, I wheel alone(don't have friends:confused: ) and this place has an office thats staffed. If you get in something you can't get yourself out of help is only a 20-30 minute walk away.

Id pay to play. You may want to vary the trails from little harder then most of hollister to hammers plus. That way you would be able to et a broader range of wheelers. Also an air compressor would be nice to have at the entrance hooked up on a cion thing like gas stations or free.

We are doing this sort of same idea here in the east. Many of our public lands have been shut down and we are running out of places to go.

Check it out! (http://www.northeastonlinewheelers.org/NLP.html)

yup, id do it, and come back if the trails are good. i pay $6 to go to hollister hills all the time, and the trails are getting a little booring. but hollister does have bathrooms, i'd expect that, but not much more.
wait a sec, sierras, outside of fresno, my family has a cabin up there, me and my friends would love to find some good wheeling up there.
where abouts is it?

That's a great thing to do, just don't make it TOO HARD to start off with. I don't charge anyone, but everyones afraid of the rock garden I set up on my property. To date, no one has played on any part of it without getting stuck.

I'd do it, though if it were only hard core trails I would have to wait a while to do it. My rig and I aren't ready for the hard core stuff yet. :D

Honestly.....Not right now. East of Fresno? NO I must admit, we are spoiled here in No. CA. There are too many places to play for free. Ten years from now, that may not be the case. I still say"East of Fresno? NO

East of Fresno- in the Sierra's. The terrain would be similar to Swamp or Dusy only I would built the trails to be tougher. I don't know yet about the water situations, so bathrooms would be portable blue units. I'm still collecting details and will know more in a few weeks.

Sounds good to me...I'll be living in San Luis for the nex four years and could use some closer playgrounds...I'll pay any fees as long as they aren't outrageous...You may want to limit the amount of alcohol...

Yeah I would ten bucks Yu want some advice get in contact with FritoLay, Pepsi, Nestle IceCream and set up a snackbar towards the entrance that will provide a lot of the cash for upkeep and keep the people happy. Shit you could end up having competitions out there and vendors paying just to show their products and advertising. Then the locals got more places to go without the threat of closure. P.S. if vendors expect a lot of business later they will give you a free fill the first time:smokin: Or just keep it simple charge ten bones and send pics this way sometime
