I've been looking to replace the beat up YJ seats in my CJ with some better ones. Something like Mastercraft, but I can't afford to drop that much $ on a pair of seats. I saw these at JC Whitney and wondered if anyone had any experience with em.

is it a SUSPENSION seat? i don't see that it is. i would try not to skimp too much on seats. i bought some BEARD super seats for $200 each new, 4 years ago but i see they have gone up considerably. see if you can find a good deal on some better seats:D

they say these are suspension:

hmm... it doesn't say if they're suspension seats or not does it... i guess not. originally i was just gonna go with some bestop trailmax type seats but wanted something with better bolsters on the sides. i don't think those would be any worse than the stock yj seats i've got in it now! thanks for the link too, i'll check it out.

i'm also shopping for some good priced suspension seats for my 94 YJ and i seen these. i need to find out if they will work with stock YJ brackets or not.

look at these prices, seem to be the same EMPI seats:

just to throw out another possible approach -

its tuff to beat used oem seats from a pick-a-part or wrecking yard type place. check the sportier vehicles, they tend to have higher bolsters, better fit, and less excess mass (stuffing) than the standard ones. the last pair i got was out of dodge coupe of some sort, had sliders, height adjustment, lumbar control and they looked great - 40 bux for the pair. when they get trashed with grease and mud and whatever from wheeling, ya just chuck'em and get something else.

the down side to this is if youre not comfortable with a little fab work on the brackets then its a no go since nobody makes adapter kits to put BMW buckets in a YJ (or whatever your up to fitting)

I bought a set of high back buckets from Checker (i.e. Schucks or Kragen) and installed them into my 85 CJ-7. I had to hack the shit out of my factory mounts but man I love these seats. Go down to your local CSK store and pop a squat in one of those seats and you'll see what i meen. and they go on sale regurally for like $250 a pair.

i bought a set of PRPracing suspension seats, i think they were like $280 each, and i was able to fully customize the color scheme. they are very comparable to the mastercraft rubicon seat and after a hard day of wheelin, i dont get the fatigue i used to when in the stock cj seats

Im running the Garage Pro seats and I like them. They hold you in nice and tight and have a good fit. I know these will not be the last seats that I will run since I will probably end up with a set of PRP's when I do the cage so I can mount the seats right the first time and don't have to mess with re-mounting them or anything. The Garage Pro seats will bolt to the stock sliders no problems. They have been out in the elements and holding my ass snugly since this past summer.

What about these http://www.hunsakersports.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=4? Not a bad price for a pair.

i have mastercraft seats in mine and they make such a huge difference. My dad has a bad back and he couldnt physically ride in my yj before and now he can do the rubicon no problem.

I have bought Berd's because they got a model supplied with angle iron brackets that is "bolt-on" on OE YJ seat riser brackets. Unfortunatly I had to buy the new Beard riser brackets also, because OE ones are taller and it was really difficult to climb onboard between the seat and the sterring wheel (No I'm not that big!). I also add a smaller diameter Grant steering wheel later for "everyday use". And now it's perfect! It begins on a budget and finished on a full set-up but, in my mind, it worth every penny...

I bought those seats, and they seem preaty decent. They are a suspension seat, the webbing is doubled up, and they are preaty comfy. Im preaty happy with them, they are cheap, and have the harness holes, the material seems strong also, doesnt seem like a cheap seat. If i had the money, id go with prp or mastercraft, but for the time being, these seem good. Im happy with them

you can also find 10%off codes, or free shipping codes floating around- thats what i did and it saved me some more money

I found a web site with the codes check it out if your ordering from jc witney-

the empi seats are decent... they're no mastercraft... but still pretty comfy... i was looking at them on 4wd.com they are 139.99 each... lumbar support is decent in them... if it's mainly a trail rig i'd go with them...
