i've read nothin but bad things about running the 7 leaf waggy springs from the jeep forums and from all the searching i've done BUT most of those guys are running them while rock crawling and pretty hardcore terrain. I live 20 minutes from Olympia WA and that crawling isnt really the norm around here. IM WONDERING if anyone in the puget sound area is running the waggy springs and how well they have held up for you???? I'll be puttin the springs on a 90 YJ SOA with 36's just thought i'd have some input before i delved in.....

Are you using the waggy springs to control the axle wrap associated with the S.O.A?

no.... just to use as leaf springs instead of the stock YJ ones.

I just wanna know if anyone "locals" run waggy springs and if so how has your experience been with them. I've already talked with Alcan for their customs and i have a quote just the waggys cheaper and i'd rather have springs that'll work well with my area i'll be wheelin in than overcompensating with top notch springs.

ok. they will limit your flex and ride harder for sure. I have the 2 1/2 cj style springs in my jeep set up S.O.A they work great and have held up for over a year.

The old school waggy/cj high spring count type spring's are ok but they do limit your flex and provide a significantly harder ride.

It seems like your the only guy who knows what im talkin about on this forum.... i've heard opposite for both of those..... thanks though

It can be fun at times you will like the help in axle wrap from the high count springs. it's still therer but a lot better

yeah.... i think im goin with alcans, just makes more sence in the long run, and i can stretch my wb to 100. Thats a sick jeep though... those the 36 or 37 Iroks?

im running them on my fsj, in the front, soa, 35's....the main leafs are bent after a year of use. i plan to swap some new main leafs in with some of the double wrap/ military style leafs under them and the bottom 5 leafs of the original 7. the 7 leaf pack has a lot of nice soft flex and droop, great travel especially when compared to my previous 4" lift springs, but the leafs are thin so the main leafs bend if you dont have adequate bump stops and a heavy rig. i would be glad to send you some pics. i wheel all the trails in WA and spend a week or two in moab each year and some OR trails...hardcore?..not really.

hmmm well if you trust them enough to take em' to moab, they must be somewhat reliable. Yeah i think im going to wait off on buying springs for a lil bit, build my front and rear axles then this summer see what im wanting for suspension. It seems the only option in retaining pure confidence in your setup is links but that comes with a pretty heavy price...

I think some peopple on the fj40 (Iron Pig) forum have discused useing these to increase there will base.
I sugest doing a search on that forum.

little late but I run waggys all the way around on my 1 ton yj. ran them before also when I had 35s. They flex good an havent bent or broke any...

yeah even more late here!! But dude go with the waggys you will not regret it!! Get the 4in lift ones 44040's I think! you will not regret it! on top of it it will more you axle an inch or two forwardfrom your firewall!

I have ran a # of different waggy sets--and the 7 leave dimple ones are the best--but at the same time your going to deal with axle wrap. You can run the RE springs that have good flex and less wrap--I am not impressed with the backwards wrapped eyes at the ends--kinda hangup on stuff...

I went thru 3 main leafs on the fronts (broke em) with the mains clamped to the other leafs--work good but longjevity just isn't there.

waggy springs work fine and flex pretty good. I had them front and rear on my yj. I removed some short leaves to make them softer but they worked good for me. they will strech your wb too, I had my front perches pushed forward also.

Do the waggy springs bolt directly inplace of the YJ ones or do you have to stretch the mounts? Will stock waggy springs provide any lift? Don't mean to hi-jack just curious.

most people run the 4in lift ones for tehe most part, but it depends toaly on your rig! I guess if your stock springs are flat or have anegative arc then ya you will gain some lift! the biggest plus is moving the axle forward!!!

I ran the cherokee chief 7 leafs on my one ton yj for 3 years and only broke 2. Both were in the front. I have built or helped build 5 yjs with these or waggy fronts and they have all flexed pretty well. for 36s I would get a couple of sets of waggy 5 or 6 leafs. up to 38s get the cherokee chiefs and with trimming and a 1.5in body lift you can fit 40s. You will definitely be needing a traction bar in the rear, they are very wrappy springs. In case you arent looking to change your wheelbase to longer then just run 7 leaf cj rears, same lift but dont add 2in to your w/b.

That's because your rig is a heavy pig.

I know a few people that were running 4404's on Toy's with a leaf removed, but I haven't seen too much in the way of Waggy's on a YJ though.

wow i havent checked this post for a while, a lot responses.

But yeah i heard the 44044 (whatever the # the rancho waggy springs) are pretty good. But i've heard more that the height gained with them is way to tall. I want a good lift to clear my meats but a low low COG. nearly 90% posts on hear are screamin alcans as far as leaf springs, so im thinkin thats the way to go. Plus they're only 200 to 250 more for a full custom setup so yeah...

So let me get this straight? Waggy leaf springs axle mounts are off set one direction so you you could use them on a YJ to move your front axle forward 2 inches? Is it all waggy springs or just certain years? Thanks in advance for the help.
