: 800 on full widths and stock H1 rims
1wook 02-20-2008, 09:36 PM Lets see them!:D
Seriously, I'd like to know who's running full width axles on an 800 and has H1 rims that aren't recentered. I think scout245 is...
I am planning on running 36-38's and am looking at picking up some H1's, I can get stock or recentered ones, so I'd like to choose the beter option.
They'll be going on a 44hd and a 14bolt, I'd like to go with the stock ones but I'm wondering if I'll have clearance issues. I've seen this set up on bronco's before, but the 800 frame is wider than the bronco's. Don't know if that's an issue or not.
scout254 02-20-2008, 11:27 PM Full width on an 80, but not H1 rims:flipoff2:
Running a standard 4 3/4" backspacing....steel 17 x 9 rim, for the 40 x 13 MTR's:grinpimp:
Maybe H1's later.:homer:

kraigsTJ 02-20-2008, 11:48 PM scout254, what is the wms on those axles in the pic?
Urban Wheeler 02-21-2008, 06:08 AM There's a couple picture threads here, I'm sure you can find some in one of those.
76scoutman 02-21-2008, 01:43 PM I've got H1's on a 44hd/14b with 37/38's under my Scout II (sorry I know you're looking for 800's). I designed custom high steer arms that bend in to clear the rim but it throws Ackerman angles off so it's not the best route but it works... More picts if needed.

montanatrout 02-21-2008, 02:21 PM full width on a 80 not H-1 wheels though, i want to t narrow it up a bit, but my hi-steer arms on the 60 front hit the inner lip of the wheel, if they angle in a few degrees H-1's would work, and i think you'll have to cut off the stock steering arms. same rig and wheels 15x10 with weld on bead lock, just a different stages of its life

I've got all the stuff ya listed for my 800, just can't figure out what JY springs to run that will not involve MAJOR fab work. Its been a 5 year project and I havent even buttoned up the FI conversion yet.
I only want to run 37's with my 60F.:D
I likes Scout254's truck!!:grinpimp:
Decisions, Decisions!!
reddevil1111 02-22-2008, 06:52 PM Binderman,
Consider running Alcan springs. I have them and love them! I think they dearch much slower than any other company and they look great. FYI. Dan:evil:
reckless 02-22-2008, 07:39 PM Scout254, do you have a build thread?
scout254 02-22-2008, 08:32 PM Nope:flipoff2: Seems that I should by now:flipoff2:
The build timeline was in '04 & '05. Too bad I didnt have a digital camera back then, only 35mm pics:shaking:
Just did a quick search.......a 103.5" wheelbase and overall width of 84.5" with the 40"MTRs
Lets see them!:D

The stock rims will fit, but you might need some 1/4" spacers to clear the tie rod. I put them on mine and it was very close. This will be a great option as your hubs will stick out nice and far so you can use them as steps to look into the engine bay or wash the windows. Get them re centered or find a dully front axle:smokin:!!
caseyray63 03-05-2008, 04:28 AM I run unmodified H-1 rims and full size chevy axles on my 800 and they fit the body perfectly, but it gets tricky when it comes to hookin up the steering. I had to cut the steering arms off the knucles to fit the rims and build a set of high steer arms, but the set up works awsome.

And welcome. :D
caseyray63 03-05-2008, 08:44 PM Well its mostly all chevy grafted into an 800 body and frame, sbc 350, th400, twin sticked np 205, 1 ton cucv axles, 2.5" wrangler springs, 40" swampers on H-1 rims, coustom high steer, scout II power steering, coustom bumpers and sliders. Its a fun ride

Wonder what happened to CaseyRays pictures?? I thought I saved a copy.:(
guidolyons 04-26-2008, 08:01 PM What springs?? Buildup anywhere?
Chevy 52's up front, Bronco II and Ranger springs in the back. Still working on it. Since I didn't chop it to pieces, 4 link it, and run 44" boggers it wasn't up to pirate standards... very slow build over on Just IH.

I see a lot of Scout II vs Scut 800 so here you go. D60 and 14 bolt on recentered Hummer rims.

Stomp-a-jeep can you post a pic from the front please.
stomp-a-jeep 05-02-2008, 09:49 AM the rear fender is as big as the front. If I was smart (wich I never claim) I would have done the rear springs then bobbed the rear so the springs dont stick out so far. there is only one h1 wheel on the front right now so Ill get the other one mounted and take som more pics. heres a few i found

Thanks for fixing the red X's!!
I like your truck!! Drive it to the trail (You may tow it?),wheel it and drive it home!! Or send the wife to the store for some bread in it if needed.
My plan (long range) is to build a cheap, tough built no frills wheeler/driver. I told myself I would NEVER take anything away from my family building a truck. The well being of my family is more important than me playing in the rocks and dirt.
I have been scrounging parts for about 5 years now for my truck. 60/14,205,H1's etc. Still havent decided on springs yet. Want to stay with a easy to find junk yard spring if possible. Hope to start its buildup in the next year or two.
I want it to be happy on the road and trail and wife/kids friendly. I only get to wheel one weekend a year, so the other 363 days it needs to be a driver if I need it. :)
I may have some questions later.
Thanks again!!
Snoopy 05-09-2008, 09:26 AM 800s are better than SIIs ~ there's no question about that. :D :D

Now it belongs to someone else ~ but at least he's using it. Here's a picture from a comp he ran it in.

stomp-a-jeep 05-10-2008, 08:34 AM I defenetly Like the scout 80/800 body style better. thats why I gots one.
dont think Ill ever do any crazy wheeling in it though, it was my grandpas scout and he is gone now so Im thinking of gettting it back up to weekend warrior/hunting rig status like it used to be, with an soa of course.
Blind Driver 05-10-2008, 09:51 AM For those that have done it, would you have rather has dually hubs or srw hubs on the front 60 with the H1 wheels? Not all steering arms will work with the H1 wheels.
Snoopy 05-10-2008, 12:01 PM Unless youre with going REALLY tall tires ~ SRW for sure. Yes, you may have some clearance problems with the steering, but normally that can be fixed with 2" spacers or custom 'hummer' D60 arms.
DRW w/ 42s on H1 8-bolt rims worked well for Rusty, but it did make it a little wide for a standard trailer. I would have liked SRW if I had the oppertunity to put some on for a reasonable $$

Good question!! I'm hoping everyone agree's with Snoop as that is what I have already. Been trying to find some DRW front hubs for my D60 just in case.
I wonder with the SRW and stock H1's combo at what tire size ya start to have problems with steering box contact issue's?
Snoop? Anyone??

I currently have DRW hubs, but was wanting a pair of SRW as well. I found someone that may trade, we'll just have to pay shipping.
They are available from the dealer new. Or go to GmPartsDirect.com GM Part #15635530. This is for the hub AND rotor. I was told this is the SRW hub.

I've run a 39.5-14.50 tire on SRW hubs with my steering stops turned all the way in for max steer and never rubbed. So I would think a 42 would not be a problem.
