me too.. I went to Carolina Beach, near Wilmington, NC...
Actually DID see another FJ40.. real clean, SOA, 36" swampers... Bumped into him right as I was getting ready to get on the beach.
Also saw a nice 60 on the way down.. S/O says "Who was that?" "Just another cruiser guy baby":D
It was my first time on the beach with my FJ.. Bogger's suuure can dig a hole in 2wd! Didn't get to pull any stuck vehicles out though.. kinda bummed about that though...
Did see plenty of Heeps, but a group of real nice older guys in CJ's, and 2 SWEET Willys... Both Willy drivers gave me a thumbs up, as I did to them.. REAL 4x4 guys gotta stick together in the sea of pavement pounders, right?

Me three. While over on the left coast, I went down to San Diego for a few days and ended up staying in Carlsbad for two days of beaching fun. Now I want to move there. Anybody in SoCal want to employ a molecular biologist? I had so much fun, not to mention the cruiser trips to SOR and TLC where I spent a half day looking at Marv's fire truck collection and other cruiser porn. :) :D

I spent part of the trip down explaining the wifey about all the FJ models and their history and had her helping me spot them.
I told her that if we saw a 40 or a 60 you could pretty much count on a wave or a thumbs up from a fellow cruiserhead. She pointed out a Brinks armored truck and laughed saying it was a Land Cruiser:rolleyes:
I also proved a point by waving frantically at a FJ100 and the owner just stared at me and kept driving.:flipoff2:

I wondered in, and Marv was riding a bike around the yard and the warehouse. I ended up shooting the shit with him for about an hour. Turns out we know a bunch of the same people (small Cruiserhead US circle, I guess). He took me over the road to his fabric shop where the seat covers/bikini tops etc are sewn and let me drool all over the fire trucks he keeps there. Also an immaculate FJ25 and an FJ43 soft top they restored. Marv was extremely generous with his time. The guys over at TLC were just as nice, and let me fool around with the Banderantes as well as walk through their shop, where they had a 78 55 with a 5.7 Vortec going in, as well as another cruiser with a 5.3 Vortec in the engine bay. Altogether a successful LA cruiser trip. :D
