: Started my rebuild
Path 88 02-20-2008, 10:30 PM Right before Christmas I went out with a buddy and had a little slip up. I ended up on my top. So I chose to do a body swap. The only thing I could find in my price range was a 88 2 Door. This is my truck.

Path 88 02-20-2008, 10:46 PM I started by pulling the 88 off the frame and built a temp wood frame to hold up the body. I hope to swap the wire harnes out to keep the 93 pathfinders setup. Can I also swap the dash to keep the vin since It will be on the 93s frame and moter with its milage? The 88 has a salvaged title and my 93 dose not.
Luv2ski 02-21-2008, 05:40 AM Ouch....how did that happen? where you half in/half out of the ditch?
your replacement body looks really nice, I am surprized it has a salvage title...what is wrong with it?
Good luck on the swap.
curleyman 02-21-2008, 06:34 AM I did a cab swap on my hardbody a couple years ago...

It gave me a great opportunity to repaint my frame. The one part which did not swap over was the front clip... We ended up building a front clip out of dom tubing...

curleyman 02-21-2008, 06:43 AM I still havent swapped my vin number over but I will soon, all you need is a rivit gun. I got the old vin off my cab by drilling through the window and then through the vin rivits. Be carefull the vin number is stamped into very soft thin metal. The vin on the door jam cannot be swapped but can easily be scratched off or ground off then re-painted. As far as a dash swap I have no clue how that will work for ya but I wish ya luck!
silversuper 02-21-2008, 10:42 AM wow please add a cage this time, that came close!
good luck with the swap, the vin swap shouldnt be that hard, maybe try a call to DMV
Path 88 02-21-2008, 11:07 AM I called the dmv and they had no clue about doing a body swap. Then after about 5 min on hold, they told me I would have to junk both cars out, and then start all over with an inspection and new salvaged title when I got it done.:mad3: I did not say anything other then I wanted to put a 2 door body on from an 88 pathfinder instead of a 4 door from a 93 pathfinder. Nothing about rolling over or the 88 all ready having a salvaged title. Needless to say I am NOT going to inform the dmv.:grinpimp:
Luv2ski 02-21-2008, 11:21 AM yeah...what they don't know won't hurt them.
A budy of mine has a 2002 jeep registered as a 79 CJ.....that helps him get around having a LT1 engine in it as well as no cats.

I did the same they gave me a thick packet of requrements and after the packet was satisfied. The Colorado state patrol would need to inspect my vehicle and if it passed it would be given a unique vin number made up by Colorado... So yea i came to the same conclusion "screw that crap" i'm swapping vin plates just like you.:smokin:
Luv2ski 02-21-2008, 06:13 PM I have thought about buying a used 720 and swapping vin plates so I can rid myself of cats and whatnot....but for now I don't have to worry about emmisions because I know a guy....
bodyman909 02-21-2008, 06:54 PM So your gonna swap the body and be more careful next time?...NOT.
Just go tube buggy, you'll be happier.
rocknbronco 02-21-2008, 09:08 PM Nice roll glad you werent killed.
finder_87 02-21-2008, 10:13 PM I've been trying to convince him to cut the top and tube it. But he says he doesn't like his hair flowing in the wind. Oh well. He will flattin the new one soon too.

I was up along the side of it and when I turned to drive in I just slid over and as soon as the tire went over the edge I was on my top. The replacement had a little front end bump that the owner mostly fixed before I got it.

homercules 04-16-2008, 08:22 AM You look sooo sad in the first picture...did you cry? Even just a little?
Seriously, that is tragic for such a nice looking truck (kinda looks like mine:D). Looks like you're well on the way to getting her running again though.
