We're likely to be doing some reveg work on the Rubicon. Last year it took place in September. Stay tuned here to see what the plans are, or to exchange ideas on what areas need some sort of planting (reveg); and what type of reveg work we might do.

We WILL have to work with the feds on this one -- as well as the county. As soon as we have some data from them, we'll set up a work party. COOL. Thanks guys.

maybe we could get some of the signs From the Fed's (Fiberglass flat post)that have keep out Revegitation or something like that to set up as we do this project.

Revegitation is a great idea. I have photos of the gatekeeper when it was MUCH skinnier. I feel that there should be trees replanted and large stakes around them for protection.

Del,
Another option:
Can some work be done a piece at a time?
If we have a master plan, (do we have one?_ with the problem areas identified, types of plants, etc etc.
and
If there was a supply of vegitation to plant
and
instructions where and how and when to plant it.
Then in addition to a large coordinated work day, we could also get smaller groups to do a bit at a time on their way through.
I love doing work like this because each trip I leave a positive impact on the trail, but i would be concerned about doing any planting in a national forest without permission.
How and what needs to go into the planning part so we don't get our hands slapped from the eco nazis for planting the wrong kind of plant?

Some of us will be making a trip all the way through the trail in a few weeks.
I think we are planning on taking pictures of all the areas that need attention.
I know we will look at the areas where we previously did work and will make any repairs necessary.
I think we should determine which area needs the most attention and focus on that spot until that area is completely restored.
Some one should for sure have pictures of the same areas from years past. We can compare the new pictures with the old to see what we need to do.
If we have one section of the trail that we can showcase to show what we can do. We should be able to get alot of support and more people to help out.
If we completely repair one area we will no what it will take to organize larger restoration projects.

Good points, Monkeyboy. The thing we have to be careful of is doing some sort of restoration that the USFS doesn't want us to do. These kinds of projects (where we plant something like willows) will have to be supervised and approved by the feds. That's something I can easily do. Usually in September is about when the reveg stuff works out best.

And please be careful posting pictures that show where work needs to be done. We don't need pictures falling into the wrong hands and used against us. If in doubt, send the pictures to Del first and ask him what he thinks.
