I have to flat tow a 94 diesel this weekend. Kind of a 1 time deal. Will the NV be ok with this or do I need to pull the driveline 1st ??
My common sense says it will be fine but I just want to be sure. Ive been wrong before and Im sure it will happen again.

Nobody here knows if the tranny can be flat towed without causing damage ???

If it's a 2wd, pull the driveshaft. The bearings on the mainshaft will not get lubed, and it will trash it. There were a few posts about that on the turbodieselregister.com. If it's 4wd, you might be ok if you put the transmission in gear and the transfer case in neutral.

Pull the driveshaft. Why risk it? 4 nuts and some bailing wire.

Don't do it if it is anything longer than a few miles. You will weld something together inside and the back tires will lock up. It gets ugly when the needle bearings on the mainshaft get starved for oil. Worse yet, when the pilot bearing between the input and the output go bad.
What isn't happening is making the lower cluster turn. This distributes the oil through out the workings of the transmission. There are little passages in and between the gears on the mainshaft that rely on the slinging of oil to lubricate the very important needle bearings.
