Well, there hasn't been a ton of good tech on here (no, this isn't going to be about tail lights, sorry guys). So I figured I'd post this so you guys can tell me what needs fixed!

I finally got around to putting in the new rear coilovers. I went from a single rate 8in to a dual rate 12in w/Remote Res. to match the front! I also got my Rock Krawler bump stops installed. I figured since I had the rear axle pulled, I might as well shave and plate the axle as well.

First was the axle project. I shaved about 2in off the rear bottom edge. It now is plated on the bottom, and about half way up the back. It has more ground clearance under the axle tube then a D35!! I also figured out a way to put a drain in the axle that wouldn't get ripped off. I drilled out the bottom center section stud and installed a bolt. Now all I have to do is pull that bolt, and it will drain, and its protected!!

First layer of plating installed, this one was just the bottom plate to cover where I shaved it.

Here is the finished product, the 2nd layer of plating runs about 1/2 way up the bottom (about to where the dimples are) and then up the sides to where the tubes start to flare out.

Here is the new coilover mount, and bump stop. The top of the mount is almost even to where the top of the wheel well is. I haven't descided if the remote res. will run into the back of the Jeep, or mount on the wheel wells.

Here is the inside mount. The main "shock tower" is 5/32in angle, and then the top plate is 3/16 tied into the cage. I might be running a cross brace across to tie the 2 together, I haven't decided yet. You can see I left a hole in the towers for the remote res. just not sure how i can seal it up from mud and crap and still allow the tube to move when it flexes.

Yes my welding needs work, but its getting better! In the last 2 pictures, what looks like REALLY bad welds on the shock towers, is actually construction adhesive. I figured I'd just glue it together! :flipoff2: Actually I put that stuf on after it was all welded up to keep any dirt and mud and crap out of the spots where there were gaps in the welds on the sheet metal that was put in just as filler to keep the crap out.

Do you have any pictures of how your towers tie into your frame? Do you have only an internal cage or an exo cage and internal cage? Trying to steal some of some other peoples ideas. And yours look like it will work very well.

No pictures, but its not too hard to figure out. The "shock towers" that go up into the wheel wells, are welded to the frame rails.
