I ran a weber on a 1.6 for a while, it ran fine except for the flooding issues in certain situations. There are several different mods to fix it. I will say that it ran a little rich as well but if you're having too trouble with the stock one and cant fix it then try the weber.

There are also other options besides the weber like the pony carb, my-fi, sidedraft carbs, etc. So search around, search here, zukikrawlers and zuwharrie. Many options besides the weber.

I have the weber 32/36. Had it reworked by Sarge. Check out this article http://www.performancewebers.com/larry.html
He reworked the manifold rebuilt, rejetted and solved the flooding problem. Mounted the carb on the manifold backwards. Total was around 250-. Well worth it. Sarge is a great guy and will spend time on the phone with you helping you get everything right. When you block off the old fuel pump you can use a chevy big block cover. Available at any napa. Don't forget to remove the rod that runs the pump or you will have a serious problem. I use an electric pump and pressure regulator cranked down to 1.5 lbs off road runs great. Good luck. what does mounting the carb on the manifold backwards do? my suzuki is a street only rig that sit's on 39 mickey thompsons....would there be any advantage to reversing the carb on it?

Steep hills. Better to stall coming down than up. No advantage I know of on street.
