Ok after the KOH race i found out my rear end was taking a major beating. I was chasing for the 112 buggy of Tracy jordan and the 001 of Joe S. Well i noticed my third member bolts kept coming loose and after every pitstop we would have to tighten them again before with tried to beat the cars to the next stop. I was wondering if anybody sells a pre made truss? Im looking for a truss that goes on the back of the rear axles since all my link mounts are on top. Thanks for any help. O and this is the buggy i was running. If i cant find one ill just have to build one.

I would contact Giant Motorsports, Sky Manufacturing, or Ruff Stuff Mfg... I dont think they have it on their site, but Ive seen them around on a couple of the prerunner Tacos around here.

that wont do squat since toyota axles bend between the spring perch and axle mounting surface. it needs to go end to end.

you could use a piece of tube from end to end then fill it in with plate.

cheif, what kind of bumpstops are you running?

Right, sorry, I should read better.:homer:

I don't know of anything off the shelf that goes on the back.

Check these for inspiration if you haven't already.

Ok i finally got the truss all done. I was amazed at how bent the rear end was then i started to straighten it. I used .120 chromoly for the tube and 1/4 plate to fill it.

Bent from welding heat/warp, or bent from abuse before the bracing? What did you do to straighten it?

Looks good.

It was bent from abuse. To many hard landings when chasing. I used a bottle jack and a chain and placed the jack under the diff with the chain acting like a sling to both sides of the axle. Then jacking down it pushed on the chain and pulled the ends down or basically pushed the center up. Then using a alingnment jig i made i got it close enough.

Cool, thanks. Do you think 1/4 plate is necessary? It seems to me (just guessing, could be wrong) that strength per pound, heavier tube with lighter plate would be a more efficient way to go.

Probably a little over kill but my buggy only wieghs 2700# so i added a little more. I wanted to use chromoly plate but it had to get here. And i used the chromoly tubing cause we have a bunch of it. And i messed up i used 3/16 plate. Thats what i get for guessing. haha

not sure where your bumpstop are but i would suggest extending the truss a few inches past the coilover mount.

Are they planning on doing purgatory again? I will be back some time but it sucks that jason doesnt have a buggy right now. At least he has the Grand to beat on.
