i got a Ford 9 rear and was reading that crush sleeves are bad since they can tear up your bearings. Anybody whack their's and lose a bearing?

It isnt the bearings I would be worrying about. It will destroy you r+p over time because they are no longer 'setup' and will begin to slop around.

How long does it take? I did not install the crush sleeve on the model 20 rear when I put in gears & a lockrite 4 years agos and haven't lost the setup yet.

I dont even see how you could tighten a model 20 pinion nut enough to hold it still without a crush sleeve.

you had to have a used some washers or something in there it would seem..

I dont think the model 20 has a crush sleeve. I might be wrong.

My model 20 has a crush sleeve, and the other Model 20 I took apart had a crush sleeve, maybe my 2 were special.

Hmm, a crush sleeve came in the setup kit also.

I have been corrected.
