I just put a 1997 Vortec +sm465+3speed t-case in to my fj40. My question relates to tilting of the drivtrain down at the back of the tranny. I know typically they sit in there at a silght angle. Anyone know where it should be mine is alomst level??

My V8, 700R4 to the TC, sit just about 4 degrees on the bubble. (I got that angle out of the JTR book, Engine Swapping TPI Motors) I think the other reason most motors are set in at a bit of an angel it to help the rear drive line angle out a bit.

Never done that conversion, but as a rule, I like mine to be as tucked up into the tunnel as possible so it's out of the way, but never farther than level to the ground. I would guess that you'd want the motor as level as possible so the fan spins parallel to the radiator, and motor oil does not pool at the rear of the pan. Not much help right:rolleyes: Sorry, up late, not much else to do.

It should be positioned so that the angles on the T'case pinion flanges match the axel pin flange angles. This is especially true for the rear if you want to minimize the drive line vibration without resorting to shimming the rear axle pinion up. The stock position is level as close as I can tell with a magnetic angle finder.
