Just wanted to share a few pics with everyone of my red carbon/kevlar hood I made. I know I know, why? Why did I make it................because I can. Not only does it look cool it weighs only 6 pounds.

never been to his "shop" but I guarantee it's just his 2-3 car garage and his years of experience and attention to detail.

Did you see the thread where he finished the plug/mold and made these up? It's all skill ( if memory serves, his background is in aviation??)...not fancy tools.

Hood looks awesome by the way. Very nice work. I wish I was better at glass work. :smokin:

Thanks guys, I just realized that I spelt Samurai wrong in the title:ogre:. I was in a little hurry to get the post up. Yes my background is in aerospace tooling, I've been making CF parts on the side for about ten years now. It's become a hobby gone mad, I now have molds hanging from the rafters in my garage.

That is an awesome hood!!!! ITS AMAZING HOW A HOOD LIKE THAT WILLL MAKE THE REST OF YOUR RIG LOOK like SHIT REAL QUICK...LOL

If you dont mind me askin, what weight cloth did you use? and how much did you use? And also, would fiberglass be cheaper and lighter(LESS STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY, BUT ITS A HOOD.) And it was vacuum bagged? sorry about all the questions, that just looks bad ass. :mr-t::evil::smokin:

I know, I need to start working on the matching CF half doors, tail gate and windshield frame:flipoff2:. I infused it using two yards of red carbon/kevlar 6oz. and I backed it up with four yards 19oz biaxial graphite cloth. I can make them out FG but they would be heavier and weaker.

That is VERY impressive. All the ricer hoods I see are just 'glass with a thin layer of CF over the top. I would love to learn how to make carbon fiber panels like that! Good work!
