Does anyone make a soft top for a LWB Samurai? I've seen those :rainbow: Plastic hardtops, but dont know who makes a softtop. I tried Bestop & Steerhorse, but no luck. Any suggestions?

I have a friend that makes gym mats. He and I are contemplating making some aftermarket tops for the Suzuki crowd. Maybe you can find a manufacturer that does the same in your area and talk him into building you a custom 1-off??

Just a thought....

I have a nice lwb hartop if your intereted. They do come stock with soft tops, but youll need to try a zuk vendor in Canada.

Thanks SCWAFISH, but I already have a HT although it has a few cracks. Unless yours is Dirt cheap, I will have to pass. I just bought a stocker the same color as yours (by the way, finding pics of yours isnt an easy task, got a few in the search hits, but not as many as I'd like.) BY THE WAY, where did you get that front tube clip? do you have a phone number or link? Me likes!
Thanks.

THANKS... Let me know if you come across that number or website. What do they run? About $300 right? I just need to find a way not to make mine look like a clone.

Hi RockKrawler -

Rich and Dan's phone number is 253-332-2012 - their hours are 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm 7 days a week. They don't have a web site.

Thanks Trail Tough, I'll give them a ring.

SCWAFISH (By the way, what the hell does that stand for?) I live near Disneyland.. I made a deal with a guy I sold a Premier welder to some months back, he mentioned he had one, and I told him I always wanted one. He had a change of heart after rolling his other SWB Sammy, and decided he wanted a Toyota. I needed a back seat for the kids, so we worked out a trade + cash and I now have this LWB, his rolled SWB, and a Tandem axle trailer. I now have to decide what to use off the rolled one, and what to do fresh. It has a rebuilt eng, 4.16 t-case, 33's and a YJ springover with missing links. It also has PS and other goodies. The YJ setup sounds good, but I'm not sure about the Missing Link setup for something I plan to drive regularly on the street & Freeway. Your input on that would be appreciated. What would you do different on yours, if anything, now that its done?

Geez.. I still gotta find a SOFT TOP for this thing!

the only place I know of to get a soft top from is the factory $$$
( technically these trucks don't exist in the U.S. so no American manufacturers ever made them ( Bestop etc...)
try calling Richmond Suzuki ( 604 ) 273 - 0331
they are the oldest suzuki dealer in Canada I believe and can probably help you out ie: they actually had longbody's on their lot!

Just wondering what stock LWB Zukes sell for down there in the U.S.

Is there a range you guys would pay?

I know where there's a couple of them up here.:D

I havent used mine enough to really say what is good etc., except the yjs flex great and ride great. The missing links in the back already bug me and I'll eventually do something different with them.

If you plan on driving it around every day I wouldnt go as wide as mine either, it is serious ticket bait. 80% of my 12.50 go past the flair, and thats with 3.5 inches of backspacing.

SCWAFISH is a joke (at least to other fish goobers) me and my fellow fish geeks cooked up. I am a fish biologist by trade. There is a fish in my area that a lot of people don't like called a squawfish. I run the fish department at the Sonoma County Water Agency...aka SCWA. When I got a license for my scout I got SCWAFISH ...dumb I know but to us fish people is was pretty funny.

I found a link of your buildup and I believe it said the standard YJ rear conversion kits wouldnt work with your frame... Why? Are the hangers different? Just wondering because the spare sammy I'm getting already has the YJ kit front & rear, and I was planning on just swapping from the SWB over to the LWB. Am I going to see a problem with this?

I understand about the Toy axle width, and the ticket thing. There's gotta be some way to make it legal... maybe some quick detach flares that dont look too :rainbow: , just an idea...

The front hanger for the rear spring is totally different on a lwb frame. On a regular zuk it easy to add some plates and move the hole forward for the longer and wider yj springs. I couldnt come up with a clean way of doing it on the lwb frame.

So what shape is your hard top in and how much do you want for it?

scwafish

Mine doesnt have any cracks and is in excellent shape...it does have some add on tiedown d-rings but they are ok.

The way my zuk is shaping up (semi-buggy), I don't think its gonna see a lot of winter use. Not sure I really want to sell it but was thinking around $200. Getting it out of my wife's yard might also make her happy, just dont have the storage I used to have :(

Last time I asked our local Suzuki dealer (Ottawa, Ontario) they wanted $1500CDN.

Not sure if the sales geek heard me flip him the bird before the phone went <CLICK!>...

I guess I'll have to go to a boat canvas place and get one made up using my rough one as a template.

Hmm, interesting. that is not a stock LWB soft top from what I can tell. Looks like a stretched SWB soft top.

Why? It's not tall enough - the "low" LWB soft top has the rear cargo area kick up for the theatre seating in the back.

Also, stock does not have a roll up tailgate window.

The fit is a little loose for a stock top too. I'm going to guess a custom top made at a marine canvas place using a SWB as a template. I'd buy one.

Add a zero to the left of the decimal point and I'll throw in my "good" LWB too.
