OK here we go again.. Scout II with 60 front 14 rear. 38" TSL's

I've got the 44044's for the front, now I need to figure out the rear springs. I've done a search and come up with very little info other than Chevy springs. Would 4" Chevy lift springs keep me level?

Rustoleum what springs are you running in the back?

I'd like to use 2.5" springs in the back too, any ideas out there?

Also, outside frame mounts or under frame mounts, any opinions?

Someday I'd like to get this beast back together and hit the trails. Any help you can offer is appreciated, Mike

Stock Scout II rear springs.... a bolt in swap :flipoff2:

seriously, right now, stock springs, they work fine, not sure about them with the tonage of a C-14... I'll find out though...

Been lookign at options... 3" Ford PU springs are promicing.... offset pin and about 55" long. Thin and flexy.

However I just spottend Ford 1/2T Van rear springs.... same specs as the pu units, but 2.5" wide... posibility.

Then theres waggys and stuff.... never seen the 63" chevy springs, but people talk about them...

Anything can be made to level the truck out, how much differance do you have?? My springs are pretty flat, so I added shackles for now....

look into a traction bar.. you'll need it :D

Don't bother with the 63's...I haven't seen a rig yet that flex them very well. (notice the most Toyotas use them along with a double shackle set up or something.) The f150's seem to be the trick for anyone who can fit them...the're too long for my Scout though:( . I picked up a set of XJ rears that will fit but I will have to add a sh*t-load of leaves in there to get them to not flatten out...we'll see how they do soon.

why are the f150 ones too long for you?!?

they are like 55" O.A., with IIRC, a 4 or 6" offset pin.... I think they are like 25" one the short side.... You have more than than in frame in the rear... don't you????

front of the spring would be no problem...

Actually, it is the front that is too long. I lightened up the only pics that I can find of the rear hangers. Basically, I have about 3-4" forward of that mount to make a new mount before I have some wanger hanging down below the frame--which I do not want. So, I am stuck with about 51-52" springs max..I think. (those are now 48" long rover springs). I will build the new mount probably after the next trip and then I will see what bolts on where...one good thing is that I have lots of Shackle to work with!

So stuff the spring IN the frame.. chop the bottom of the frame and slide the spring inside. :D

damn you tom!.... you stole my idea!!

Or outboard the springs SII style... unless you have the stock tanks...., not sure if they would interfere... have to look when I get home

stupid question, but why don't you run the 44044's front and rear??

no real reason that I can think of... other than that means you have to BUY 4 springs instead of 2.... used springs for the P-N-P are cheap, of free from friends..

They are a front application, but may work quite well in the rear.... don't know.

Maybe because you can usually get away with longer springs in the back... so you try to...

No $$$:(

But I do have about 4 or 5 sets of different 2.5" wide spring sets to work with...

Just run the F150 56" rear springs. I have them on my YJ and yes there is a big wanger sticking down for the front spring hanger. I have touched the driver side hanger ONCE after several trips to the con, through the soup bowl and little sluice multiple times. If you want the benefits of longer springs then you have to take some of the downfalls too.

I agree that the 63" springs are too much drama to deal with.
