I think the KOH format can be used for class 17 or class 7 and any other 4X class at SCORE.

The whole program worked and to limit that kind of racing to only the big tire crowd would be a waste. I'm not suggesting that a class 7 rig (with 35" tires) would be competitive with the 40" crowd, but racing something like it, against like rigs, would be great!!

I just know that the F Toy crowd has every right to think about doing thier own event (or class) out there.

A Cherokee based class, Shorty (Jeep) class, Trucks, full bodied....you get the picture.

Come on someone, lets try this!!

Part of the reason that JR was able to haul as like he did, aside from a killer rig, was his ground clearance. I think the simple fact of it is hat you nee to be running a 40" ish tire to even have a chance. I know Earl Kahn has hopes of running in a Total Chaos IFS truck. That'd be awesome, but I just don't thing that they will survive, let alone have the ground clearance to fly through the rocks.

It's apparent from the race that the rocks were the killers. I know a few people DNF'd out in the open sections, but I know most of the rigs that were built for the rocks could be made to survive and even excel in the open desert.

the class thing isnt going to happen for while if ever. it just doesnt make sense with a 50 rig field. hundreds, yes but not 50. the race has more to do with a balance rig than anything. unless they increase the dezert sections the rocks is where the race is won and a solid simple rig will be perform. a ftoy with ~150 hp (3rz or turbo) with bypass shocks and deavers will do well in the race. plain and simple.

Not every event needs to be the 'Big One.'
Think of mini versions, sort of like a Half Marathon compared to The Ironman.

Run em' up one or two of the trails and down a couple, head across the desert.....

Two hour events.

ground clearence didnt matter. My buggy sits at 20" to the belly. Seeing the lines mattered and knowing where to get it and take it easy mattered a lot.

How can you say ground clearance didn't matter? You where running a 40in tire. That's alot more clearance than a 35in tire.

I understand...my buggy has a 20' belly height, sand I am very aware of what it will go over. The ground clearance on JR's rig that I was referring to was at his axles. He had portals, and he was able to haul ass, no having to worry as much about slamming his diffs. I saw a 60/9" hybrid with a Spidertrax .250 wall housing and it had a 1/4-1/2' dent in the cover. I couldn't believe it didn't hit the ring gear. So again I say, ground clearance, both at the belly and axles, is of the utmost importance in KOH...
