I've about wrapped up my power steering install. I have a P/S cooler, and the extra lines to hook it up. My plan was to shim the kick pump, and drill it out for more flow/volume, but I don't know where to drill.

I've read that once you shim the pump for pressure, you can/should drill out one of the holes/orifices by 1/32nd to allow for more flow through the pump. The extra pressure from the shim heats the pump without adequate flow, and that by drilling this out you gain more volume, hence quicker steering and a cooler/longer living pump.

Question of the day, which hole do you enlarge by 1/32nd of an inch? I'd be happy to supply pictures if needed. This is about all I have left to do before buttoning it up.

Thanks, Sky

the hole where you took the spring out of. there is one in the bottom of the bore. just drill it out 1-2 /32s and you'll be golden

Thanks a ton, I'll pass the info around. Kinda nervous(read: chicken shit).. the hole in the bottom is tiny, that and it's at an angle looks like fun. I'll let you all know how it does.

Thanks again it's Much appreciated,
Sky

I'm just in the middle of installing a Kick power steering set up and I never heard of these mod's before.
What spring should I remove, where is it and why am I removing it?
where am I shimming the pump, and by how much?
Do I need to do this on a daily driver or is it a trail only fix?
Thanks
