: long side 62 axle
gunracer1 07-09-2002, 03:30 PM well after digging through all my junk, i have come to the conclusion that i don't have a long side axle that is worth a crap. both of the one's i have are rounded and shitty looking. i have three good birfs. so i remember reading that a mini is the same on the longside. so the question is is it true and where the heck can i get one. i am fixing to leave on vacation in less than two weeks andf i really need my cruiser back together. and when i get back, out comes the cutting torch and a set of rockwells are going in. thanks mike

I got'em stacked like cord wood. PM me if you want one, I can ship you out one real cheep.
Jason M 07-09-2002, 04:05 PM I'll take one or two as well :)
BJ On Roids 07-09-2002, 05:40 PM hopefully this ends all the questions:
FJ62, FJ60 long side = mini long side
40, 55 long side = 75 long side (shorter than 60 and mini long side) by 85mm
FJ40, 60, short side = 55, 75 short side
short side cruisers = LONGER than mini short side
FZJ are different, and FJ80 are different again (bigger again)
but you can run a minitruck longside in your FJ60/62 (same)
some early warn and AVM hubs have longer birfs by about inch or 1.5 inch, those things are useless, cause you need to run the longer hubs, so give them to one of your friends and run either short warn hubs or aisin hubs :flipoff2:
rick d 07-09-2002, 07:27 PM ok BJ on roids, here is a stumper.
do any mini axles match up to 75/78/79 front ends?
(I can measure them tonight)
rick d
w/ 2 HZJ75 big birfield front ends in a sea of tiny birfields
BJ On Roids 07-09-2002, 08:44 PM naw, the 75 long side is the same as 40 long side
and the 75 short side is the same as a 40 short side
maybe swap a mini truck axle under, you could gain some width, a high pinion (i think you have this already) and you could also throw some bobby longs in then and you would be good to HAMMER down
but im pretty sure your HZJ axles are different lengths again, although as soon as i realised they wouldnt fit, i never paid any closer attention to them.....so maybe
rick d 07-09-2002, 09:31 PM 1990+ axle measurements
long side 770 mm, short side 415 mm
LC 40/70 1968-1990
long side 740 mm, short side (close to, guess because my extra is stuffed into a birfield) 435 mm.
Why use longfields? I have 25% more mass than one with the stock birfields. Have the high pinion (4.56).
so anybody reading this know if mini (short, the long is not) is close or I am looking for late LC only?
(I have no idea size of 80 series but I think both are longer)
High5 07-10-2002, 12:02 AM just hurry up and put the rockwells under the thing and quit fiddle farting around with that mickey mouse crap:flipoff2:
then maybe next time we go wheeling you can actually take your crap and put a few scratched and dents in it as well.
gunracer1 07-10-2002, 08:16 AM i pm ya. thanks mike
