: WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO MOUNT A YORK COMPRESSOR FOR OBA Vert/Horiz?
shredit73 03-04-2008, 10:30 AM What is the best way to mount a York compressor when using it for OBA... Horizontal?? or Vertical?? And for shits and giggles...if anybody would care to post some pix of their set up...feel free...I'd be interested to see.
Thanks
resqme 03-04-2008, 10:52 AM Done them both ways, haven't noticed a difference between the two...depends on what you can make fit.
GaryTJ 03-04-2008, 02:02 PM mine is at an angle because it sits in the factory chev a/c bracket.
sorry about the mud, but it is the only pic I have that shows the mounting.

shredit73 03-04-2008, 02:27 PM Hey, thanks for the picture. Oh, and.................holey fuckn' mud!!
shredit73 03-04-2008, 02:34 PM I have read that they can be mounted either way, but if you're going to be using your York for OBA, it's better to mount it vertical to keep the oil from draining through some small hole out of the gear box and into some other compartment internally and also it will keep more oil out of the air tank and lines??? Anybody heard of this?

jeffy 03-04-2008, 04:40 PM If you lay the compressor on it's side, normally to the pass. side, the output will be on the bottom. This allows for the oil in the slump to migrate to the head where it will leak into the air flow. The oil slump vents out the head with the air output. In either case, you'll want to run an oil seperator, but if it's on it's side you'll get a lot more oil in the lines.
resqme 03-04-2008, 05:26 PM Yes, I ran separators on both. I like Kilby's...pricey but it recirculates the oil back into the sump and you don't have to deal with draining and refilling.

That's the info I was looking for...thanks.

FrkyMnky1487 03-04-2008, 10:45 PM You can run it on its side, but you need to make sure that the Suction side is on top. It will be part of the part # telling you which is what port and is explained on Kilby's website.

Did you modify the A/C bracket or make a new one?
