I've got a '78 CJ-5 (registered in CA). It has a sticker on the dashboard just above the factory sticker that says "Non-Catalyst". I recently had a custom muffler shop put Flowmasters on it, and the owner of the shop was questioning why I didn't have a catalytic converter. I never realized it didn't have the converter, and the last time I had it smogged, it passed with flying colors. Would this Jeep have come from out of state? I don't know the history of the Jeep except that I've had it for almost two years. Any Ideas? Do I need the rest of the smog equipment if it's passing smog without the converter?;)

It didn't have a Cat from the factory. Most likely 49 state, non CA.
