i have a 74 ford f100 with a 390. i went wheelin and sunk it i got water in all 8 cylenders after i got the water out i put a new cap and rotor and cleaned the spark plugs but it back fires out of the carb at low rpm and when itgets past the back firing it has no power till like 45 mph i think it might be the control modual because i cooked the ballest resister if any one has any idea how i could fix this problem let me know i dont think its a the cam or any of the valves cuz the back fire ing is not on a pattern

sounds like your timing is off, your cam timing proly got fawked when you tried to compress water:shaking:.

x's 2 on both counts...... Sounds like it could be timing.
