: Looking for a 4 seater?
Bent Fabrications 03-06-2008, 08:26 PM Introducing the newest chassis by Bent Fabrications….
If you’re like us and have a few kids that are quickly getting big enough to take along to the woods, you’ve probably considered trading in the 2 seater for something a little bigger. We have put a lot of thought into it and decided we’d build a Chassis that was based off of our 2Play platform and add some room for a few kids in the back. Looking at several current 4 seaters being built, our intentions were to keep a sleek sporty stance to the chassis. The lines of the chassis needed to be easy on the eyes. I know I need a 4 seater to haul my 2 small kids with me, or the option of extra room to haul more gear in a buggy, but I didn’t want it to look like an Astro Van on portals either. If your in the same boat as us, check out the new “4Play” by Bent Fabrications.
The chassis is still pretty small and the back is only designed for 2 small kids or one adult. The cowl width is 58” and can accommodate many aftermarket hoods including CJ, YJ, TJ, JK, Liberty, Grand Cherokee, FJ, Escalade, early bronco, etc. Most engine combo’s should fit without much hassle. The one in the pic is designed for stock Cherokee 4.0 drivetrain. Yes, a big block will fit, it would be tight. Radiators can be laid back in the front or rear mounted. The bottom of the chassis requires a “sub frame” to be added for placement of suspension and drivetrain accommodations. The “sub frame” is not part of the BARE chassis, as each one is different based on engine combinations and wheelbase desired. A standard 112” wheelbase laser cut subframe that has all the upper and lower control arm mounts and allows 10” between the skid and floor without a hump is in the works. There is 42” from floor to roof for enough room to accommodate suspension seats. Axles with a 64” WMS to WMS minimum is recommended with a tire size of 38” or larger. Chassis with 42” tires should be 73” tall with 20” belly at ride with 5” uptravel.
4PLAY CHASSIS start at $4600 bare
We would be happy to build your project to any point you choose from bare to turn key!

1TONZR2 05-18-2008, 07:29 AM do you have any pics of completed 4plays? I am looking for something that will give me plenty of leg room in the drivers area, since I am 6'7", room is a premium. Do you have the dimensions of the chassis? length, width, height?
I currently have a 5.3L in my rig that I plan on using, will that tall truck intake cause me issues?
Thanks
Brian
Bent Fabrications 05-18-2008, 08:13 AM The chassis is VERY similar to the 2Play with 8" added to the subframe and 12 inches added to the overall length of the chassis. The chassis is 58" wide at the cowl and has 42" from floor to roof. This gives enough room for even a large guy to set comfortably in suspension seats with enough room for a small console in between. There is 48" between the middle X and the pedals bottomed out for leg room. Most people will want to put seat sliders in to accommodate shorter legs. This chassis is built primarily for trail riding and has plenty of room inside to be comfortable all day on the trail. The back is really designed for two kids or one adult. It is somewhat small, since we are trying to keep a pretty sporty stance and look to the chassis. All of our chassis's are built somewhat custom to the original purchaser. I will usually measure the person setting in the seat and confirm the dimensions are going to be comfortable for them. Some even opt for a lower roof line (if they are really short like me). The engine compartment has 32" height from the skid plate to what would be a flat hood. If more room is needed I can build a slightly lower subframe, or run a cowled hood. I see no problems using the 5.3 you already have.
The 4Play is still new to us and although 2 have been built... both were sold as bare chassis's and neither is completed. I do have a 4Play being spec'd out that a customer is having us do a lot of the work. I will do a build thread as we go along. He's waiting on a custom 609 axle to be completed for the front... hopefully, we should be starting soon.
Bare chassis take 4-5 days to complete... rollers take 7-9 days.
I'm more than happy to talk to you about your build or price out options you might be interested in having us build. We are VERY reasonable with our prices and labor. I build buggies because I enjoy doing it and look foreword to getting up everyday for my job. We've combined the shop onto our own property to keep overhead down and focus on quality at a reasonable price... instead of paying for a huge shop and doing oil changes to stay in business. PM or call if you have any questions. -Tim
here is one in the mock up stages now.. I did notice the bottom of the B pillar is still not added in these pics. He also has not built any subframe at all yet so the motor will set MUCH lower than in these pics.

1TONZR2 05-18-2008, 08:29 AM thanks for the quick reply Tim. if you could get some more pics of the interior once it gets to that point that would be sweet. I would like to see someone sitting in the drivers seat so I can see how much room there is there. It looks like it would be a little cramped for my long ass legs. would it be an option to move the B pillar back about 6" and then moving the motor back and down a few more? its really hard to tell what kind of clearance there is on there.
I really like the lines of this chassis and it would probably work for me with a few tweaks. It would probably end up being a 2 seater with more storage and bigger fuel cell.
thanks again.
Brian
Bent Fabrications 05-18-2008, 08:46 AM Turning it into an extended cab 2 seater would be pretty cool.
I can make it fit you... even if we have to scale the entire buggy up 10%. I've never had to make one bigger, though some have requested things be smaller. We've worked a long time figuring out dimensions that are as comfortable as possible. There is more room than it looks, though the first step is getting the seats you want to run and taking measurements with you in the seat. Then we'll know exactly what we need to build to fit you. For me it will end up looking like when Jesse James sat on the bike he built for Shaq. If it's being built for you, it will fit you.

1TONZR2 05-18-2008, 08:54 AM the seats I will be using are PRP daily drivers that are 2" taller than normal, I currently have them in my truck. what measurements do you need? if you want to take this to PM we can or we can leave it here so other people will know their options for your chassis.

Dimensions are really slightly different for each individual. We've figured out a size that is very comfortable for average size guys. If your exceptionally tall or short, I can work with you to ensure your chassis is comfortable. What would be the point of getting a chassis built if it wasn't fun to ride in?

I am far from average height...LOL 6'7" 260ish like I said, space is good.

Mud4me!! 06-16-2008, 09:38 AM I might be interested in some of those measurements that you two get worked out. I will be in the market for a chassis before to long. I am 6-9 and most of the production units seem a little small for my needs. I would like to see where and how much needs to be changed to get a comfortable fit without making it stupid big.
thanks
Bent Fabrications 06-16-2008, 06:55 PM The "production" part of all our chassis's are the style of the tube work. I can build custom width cowls and more or less head room pending on each customers size and needs. I can also oversize or undersize the entire chassis and slightly push or pull the B-pillar for more or less foot room. Even if your a little bigger than the average guy I can make the chassis as comfy inside as your Lazy boy at home:D ... Granted I don't like to build them too small for an average guy to no longer fit (like my new one) because it makes reselling the chassis harder... however I'll make sure the original purchaser is as comfy as possible.
PM me your details and we'll come up with something to fit your needs.

Bent Fabrications 10-01-2008, 03:38 PM We are making some revisions to this chassis in the rear. It should make the lines flow a little better for a better over all apearance.
Check out this build up to see one of our newest chassis designs http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=704150
I'm going to offer a simpler version of the new chassis in the thread with a traditional front end soon.

rajincajingt 10-01-2008, 04:24 PM tim,

whenever the time comes for me to buggie this beat up ole cj i carrying my ass up to KY.
great work man, really!
elven112 11-24-2008, 10:40 AM Do you have any updated Pictures on this chassis?
Bent Fabrications 11-24-2008, 01:07 PM I'm working on a whole new design... there will be a build thread covering concept to completion starting soon. I can still build this one, but when people see the new one for the same price, I think this one will be obsolete. It will offer additional uptravel and sleeker styling along with a little more room inside...

Is the updated version the El Salvador and Conquistador?
afd516 06-19-2009, 12:26 PM I think it is the El Salvidor since the Conquistador is a two seat.
