36 days and 12 hours to go according to the count down clock for the first western series event. Sure wish it was still scheduled for the following week.
I still have major work to get done. Who's going and who else is still getting ready?
GETTINTHERETOY 03-06-2008, 10:37 PM We will be there! Getting ready here. The pile of upgrade parts for the season opener is getting smaller.

Just finished up a new traction bar last night.

i hope you did most of the welding with the JJ in the tabs they go in...otherwise they may not fit back in.
the Trail Gear trac bar is one of the best investments on my rig and one of the best things i have gotten from them. its a bomb proof item that needs to be bomb proof because the insane amount of torque thats put on it. it didnt inhibit any flex and it put alot...alot of force straight down to the ground.
for example, i could not crawl onto my trailer on my street unless i was in 4x4. then when i had the trac bar, i could put it in 2wd and the rear hooked up so good it pushed the ftoy on the trailer. i know this because i would always fool around with it.
MT4Runner 03-07-2008, 12:49 AM I have a crapload of things to do to be ready for the WA comp in 85+ days!!!

:D Its a good Idea to weld up the traction bar itself with the slip part in also. And not all at once. :homer:

Very cool. yeah my rear moves around way too much in directions i don't want it to go without it. Glad to to know I should see some major improvement.
Skii4x$ 03-07-2008, 08:21 AM That funny I was just thinking about this yesterday. I will be there. I have a decent amount of work to do. Here is my list.
* Functional parking brake or micro lock
* D.O.T. approved helmet
* Neck restraint collar
* Window net (5 point penalty per course if not used)
* Metal roof must cover entire roof opening
* Solid metal roof can be bolt on at least every 12" inches
* First aid kit
* 2 Fire extinguishers
* A full firewall constructed of metal sheet or lexan material from outer edge of chassis (inner edge of tubing) to opposite outer edge. The only exception is if you have a fully encapsulated engine compartment (inner fenders from shock midline to firewall, with a hood). You can then use expanded metal in the floor pan area of the passenger compartment.
* Transmission tunnels are not required but a driveshaft loop and cover to protect the driver from the rear u-joint is necessary.
* Kill switch
Oh and i also need a spotter for this event and would anyone be willing to lend me a firesuit for this comp?
Brian Ellinger 03-07-2008, 09:31 AM I wish our list fit on a freezer! Somehow I think a longblock might squash it!
Funny, Pook and I I think are the furthest away from the comp site, and have the most to do!

handlebar 03-07-2008, 10:35 AM Bernie is taking 042 to the comp. the car still needs a track bar and new wheels, other than that we are good to go.

Just go rummage in Shannon,s dumpster, Thats what Sam & Bernie did. I think they found an LS1 powered moonbuggy in there to :laughing: We have some upgrades for our f-toy but its all top seceret stuff I cant say what they are
Vortec_Cruiser 03-07-2008, 12:57 PM Does anyone know how spectating will be at the raceway? My son, Tom, will be taking his 1-year-old son & wife, and he was concerned about the setup there. Since our Formula 4 is still in the early stages of the build, we will be relegated to spectator status. :( Hopefully, next year... :)
Just a heads-up for anyone who hasn't been to Perris Raceway. Don't confuse it with Perris Speedway, which isn't too far from the raceway. Follow the directions on the W.E.Rock website, and you'll be okay. :)
One thing I noticed, which is very disappointing, is the fact that the website for Perris Raceway has zero promotion for the event, and their event schedule is blank for April 12 & 13! :( Since their website has many dead links, it's not too surprising about the lack of event promotion.
Skii4x$ 03-07-2008, 07:02 PM Does any one have a fire suit that I might be able to borrow for this event? This will probably be the only event that I make it to this year and I really dont want to shell out $100+ for it. If I cant get one I guess I will just take the penalty point because I cant buy one right now.
Also do you know of any spotters that will be there that can spot for me? This is my first comp so I need some help of a seasoned spotter.
Thanks

First thing I thought when I heard that the comp was at Perris. I've been to PAS any number of times for the sprint car races and was wondering where the courses would be. As it turns out, CRA/ USAC is running Sat night at PAS so it looks like I'll catch a race over there also:smokin:

I dont believe a dream catcher hanging from the rear view is actually a top secret upgrade...:D
