I'm doing a unique swap on my ranger. I'm putting a 435 behind the 4.0. I have all the parts except for the clutch disk. Now, the 435 I have is out of a 78 f250, but I had to change the input shaft to a dodge np435 one. I went to the zone for a clutch for a dodge 4speed with the 23spline shaft and then one from a ranger. according to the specs they have, the dodge shaft is 1", 23 spline. The ranger is the exact same thing, but when I went to slide a ranger disk over the dodge shaft, it wouldn't go on. Could their specs be wrong or are could the splines be spaced more or what?

i was thinking that. Dont know why they would do that, but you very well might be correct. if i had to guess, i'd say the ranger input is the metric one.

Where did you get the bellhousing for this?

well if you want any information about this swap, call 1800-350-2223 ext. 526. thats steve at advance adapters. He helped me through this whole thing.
I actually got very lucky doing this swap cause there are some things you need that are not common. The bell housing is from an 05 mustang v6 (its a 4.0L) with a 5speed tranny. (t5 they are). It bolts directly up to the 4.0 and he had an off the shelf adapter for this.
It does take some time and effort tho becuse you need precise measurements and things from the mustang tranny. And like I said I was lucky because I found the tranny I needed from the bell housing back, so I picked it up, (bell housing) and just went back to the place for measurements off the tranny as needed. I will say this, one, its gonna be bad ass and well worth it. Two, you will use the stock 4.0l, 5speed starter, flywheel, and pressure plate. You will need a dodge np435 input shaft, (ford ones are not long enough) and a custom clutch that mcleoud can make you with a lifetime warranty. For release bearing you will use the mustangs internal slave. In short, its not that hard if you have the time and patience for something like this. Any more questions just ask.
