Howdy All, This is my first post here, a few friends of mine recommended the site. Enough with the pleasantries, Here's the background on my Jeep, and the problem i'm running into.

I have a 1970 CJ5 with the Buick 225 V6. Dana 44 30 spline 1 piece rear axle factory, and it [U]had[U] a Dana 27 front. A friend gave me a set of Wagoneer 44's out of a 77, and i thought it would be a good improvement. I've shortened the housing to fit like the factory 27. It's only 1.25" wider. I have custom axles being manufactured to fit the new housing. The only problem left with making this swap work is my steering. My plan is to take a set of factory Wagoneer Tie Rods and connecting Rods, and Drag Link and shorten them to fit to the narrow axle. My last issue/problem is getting the drag link to mate up with the gear box. It's NOT a factory gear box, the guy i bought my jeep from swapped in Power Steering Gear Box and column from a Older Buick Skylark. I've been unable to find any pictures of what a wagoneer pitman arm looks like, my hope is using a late 70's would work on my Gear Box, Open to any ideas or suggestions. The help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Fling, it looks like that drop pitman would match perfectly with my gear box and setup I wanted. Will get in touch with BJ's to make sure the diameter is the same where it attaches to the gear box.

The waggy pitman arm is very long compared to a CJ, YJ or TJ, which are all about the same in length. Long is good for more steering, but will wear your steering box and mounts more and is more likley to cause breakage. If you are stretched forward at all from stock the Waggy pitman will cause interference between tie rod and drag link as well.

The CJ arm is flat like the Waggy, not as stout, and about 1 1/4" shorter in length.

THe TJ and YJ arms are the same, CJ length (about), have about an inch of drop and are very stout compared to all the others. I like using a stock TJ/YJ pitman in most applications.

Good info resqme, but i'm not using a stock gear box, mine is infront of my grill and not a stock set up. The one that was in had a drop to lower the angle because of how it is situated, i'll take some pictures and upload them to show what i have up front.
