Hey guys it seems i am getting an odd pattern dana 44 R&P install. I seem to be getting a full mark on both my coast and drive side but it is centered. My backlash is at .01. Looking to see if that is a workable pattern or if i need to be messing with somthing. And yes i know my ring is nicely painted it has been alot of trial and error so far.

.01 is a little too much. tighten it up a bit and run another pattern. It also helps to wipe down the ring gear after each pass to get a good pattern check. make sure you are putting some tipe of resistance on the gears. I used a piece of particle board and hammered it in between the ring gear and the housing to get that resistance.

I will see what i can do about the backlash, before this pattern i had decresed the ring side .0025" which changed the backlash from .006 to .01. from what i am reading it should be between .006 and .01. The ring is clean just some yellow residue/staining from the past night but nothing that would keep from seeing a new pattern and i did apply a load to the ring.
Anyone have comments on the pattern. My goal was to get them to be centered and to me it seems that neither are to deap or to shallow and both are pretty even. I just have not seen in my reading anyone getting a heal to toe pattern like this i guess thats what my main concern is.

according to the small Yukon book, as long as the pattern is fully centered with a slight toe, you are fine. If this is going into a DD that will see alot of hwy miles, strive for the best set up and try to get fully center.

you could take about .002-.003 out of the pinion bearing to get more center. then add about .003 to the drive side of the carrier. that might pull the pattern more dead center.

But other then that, you good
