: Looking for SM420 in SF Bay

Although I haven't touched my 55 since I brought it home from Krusty's last year... I am now back in the buy stuff for later mode. I just received my 420 to 3spd kit from SpaceGhost and am now looking for the 420 to attach it to. If anyone has a local source for these things I would appreciate the info. I can go the wrecking yard route too - but would like to be given a name as a recommendation rather than just flipping through the yellow pages. I might make it to the PMC event on Saturday if someone going has something I could look at.

Thanks,
Hollend

21 views and not a single reply? Was my subject line too vague and people were wondering if I was a scuba diver looking for help in locating a tranny lost while being used as an anchor?

Are 420s really that rare now? Can't point a wannabe Cruiser head in any direction?

From all the friendly posts I see on this board I was really expecting at the very least "Good luck finding one around here" after 21 fine folks took a look at what I had to say, or on the otherhand, 1 or 2 views and no replys... but... damn, sorry, lost my train-of-thought.

Better luck next time I guess...

LOL,

There are a bunch of people on this board amigo. And a lot of them do not live in the Sac area. 21 views is nothing. And if I do not have anything constructive to add I usually won't.

Call around to the junkyards. Find out who has them and how much. Then go get the cheapest one. They are easy to rebuild.
BTW, I would never pay more than $100 for one. Unless it had been completly rebuilt..

Oh yeah

Good luck finding one!!!

:D :flipoff2: :D

I could get you one here in Vegas for $100 any day of the week...

Good luck finding one around there!!:D

Sorry, can't help you!! I guess you can check the local junkyards. I bought one from a guy on POR for $50, and had it shipped to me for $35 (disc FedEx shipping).

Oh, and welcome newbie!!:flipoff2: :D :flipoff2:

I won't tell my 9 year old daughter, but it looks like b****ing pays off.

Thanks for the $ quotes and hand waves. Everything is easier to find and cheaper than here... I think I'll let my fingers do the walking.

Cruise on down to your local Pick-n-Pull and see what they have. Look in the back where all the big old delivery vans and 2 ton trucks are. They are in Newark, Oakland, San Jose and Stockton.

I have one. It is the old style front bearing retainer (with the funny spiral oil "seal") I have never run it but it appears to be in good shape. Let me know if you are interested - $50 -markx.antle@intel.com
