I searched, and didnt find what I was looking for really. My question is very simple, what 1/2-3/4 ton brake set up bolts in to replace the YJ crap. I am tired of putting my foo tthrough the floorboard jus tto stop. Hoping for something pick n pull special style that will bolt right in.

Seems to me half to YJ's around here like the E350 master, and the other half don't, but I suppose you read that thread, I'm wondering the same thing, mine work fine with 1/2 ton Chevy stuff on my Dana 44, but now this....

I had a 79 bronco master on my yj with 1/2 Gm front brakes and big ford 9" rear drums. stopped good I pulled the o-ring out of the prop. valve and made it better. Now i have GM 60 front and 1/2 ton Gm calipers rear with the same master setup and can lock the brakes at will.

is this a stock TJ d30 front you're talking about?
I don't think anything will replace that stuff.
try looking to a ZJ, but that's a maybe.

Off the top of your head, how much bigger is the piston in a 60 caliper vs a 1/2 ton? I'm thinking of running 1/2 ton GM large calipers at all four corners, but it seems to me it may be better to have a smaller caliper in the rear.

I'm sure you read the thread so I'm only recommending this because you siad Pic n' Pull style.

'86 E350 Master. Cheap and easy to swap. if it sucks, take it back. It worked for me and some others. (probably the same master as the bronco/f150/f250/you get the picture)

off the top of my head,

CJ calipers are 3.1", 1/2 & 3/4 tons are 2.9375"
(scary, huh)

it's the rotor diameter, MC bore, and booster diaphragm(s) that vary.

Hey, thats what I was thinking on th e350....is it a direct bolt on setup? and what years would apply? I know 86, but those arent always at pnp  Sometimes you gotta deal in 70's shit :(

Sundowner.....this is in a YJ and with a F250 D44 front and Dodge D60 rear.....all 8 lug 3/4 ton stuff.

then you have those monster twin piston calipers?
there's your issue. you'll get the double benefit from the bigger mc.

I've only seen 80's and they were all the same. Same design as a YJ with the large metal reservior. I'd just get something similar then buy a remanned one and use it as the core. With a core these MCs are $15. That sold me because I didn't have to worry about seals and such being worn.

To install-
1) Drill MC stud holes to 9/16"
2) Clearance outer/top mount area w/ angle grinder so it seats properly in YJ booster
3) Buy 6" lines adapter lines that have MC fittins on one end and Jeep fittings on the other ($3/line)

$5 MC at pnp
$15 for reman w/ core
$6 for adapter lines

Under $30 and it will definitely help.

Nothing else needed except what I listed. No push-rod adjustments or anything:beer:

just something to think about: if you get one with the plastic reservoir- they are lighter!

How does the XJ and YJ MC compare? I know the ZJ fits the XJ so if the ZJ fits the YJ, then oh yes we have a cherokee fix!!!

Can any one verify the ZJ MC fits the YJ???

Kieth, you can also upgrade to a dual diaphram booster out of a ZJ, you'll need a spacer between firewall and dash.
works with same mod to the E-350 MC.
Exactly what I'm doing as soon as Rockslut hooks me up with the booster. :D
Pretty sure a Vette master cyl with 1 1/8" bore is a bolt up.
P/N is 29969

Keith, try a '91-'92 GM G10/G20 van w/gas V8, master, booster and rod are all direct bolt in on a YJ, You neglected to mention if you are 4wl disc or not? I'm gonna try this set up on mine w/4wl disc, was told to remove prop. valve and use this combo, it will brake exceptionally well and not nose dive anymore....good luck
