Pull everything out,its in the very back of the case.If I remember right there is a snap ring holding the ring gear to the output shaft ya gotta take off. Then out side of the case in the rear there is some other stuff ya gotta take off and then ya can slide it out the back. Its been a few years since Iv had my C4 apart. If ya want more details,I can find my C4 manual :D

I just did the same thing on mine.. had a car C4 and got my Advanced Adapters tail housing/shaft kit. I'd like to think that I'm at least 'competent' when it comes to mechanical stuff.. but in no way an automatic tranny expert. I just paid alot of attention to how stuff looked before I ripped it apart (took pix for reference too). Pulled the valve body.. looked at all the bands.. made notes of where they were adjusted to.. pulled the pump.. pulled the band and front drum all in one piece. Pulled all that stuff out in the biggest chunks I possibly could.. and stacked it all on a clean towel the way it came out. The tail shaft is held on by a snap ring.. pull that off and poof.. tail shaft slides out.

My friend Bill and myself managed to get mine all back together in one piece and all seems well. Good luck.

Here's what the inside of mine looked like.. just in case you want a reference :D

Looks good! Are you running an extended pickup tube with that deep pan?
