alright im putting a 14 bolt ff, in my 90 f-150.... and i wanna know if you can get gears lower than 5.13 for my ff, and if so what would i have to do,,, also what does everyone think about welding it up, how diff would it be from the detroit on the street andf on the trail, and oh yeah I DID SEARCH ALL THIS!!!!, thanks for the help,,,,

a welded 14 isn't bad, but if it's an open carrier the detroit is super cheap, if it's a Gov'lok then welding might be a better option. There is a carrier break at 4.56 but you can get extra thick gears down to 5.13, so why bother. I think 5.13 is the lowest available, at least the lowest DTS has

i think welding is a good idea, as long as you dont ride on the street that much. i think it will wear out your tires more quickly than a locker. i did it to my 12bolt and i thought it would break giving it hell on the street or rocks but so far so good.
