Out of office Monday and Tuesday. Spent all morning scanning pics from the Saturday 4x4 Challenge. I'll get to work on this one now... ;)
4 of us Binders went to a 4x4 challenge last Saturday. Got some pretty good pictures.

Hard to chop a black rig effectively. No hues to screw with, so I had to manually paint in the colors. Not my best work, but it came out OK I guess.
On the challenge run pictures...
There is a lot to be said for an SLR camera with an auto wind feature and expensive lenses. I still manually focus because I have not found an auto focus that keeps up with me and does not decide to focus on some stupid mosquito flying by when I want to focus on the tire, or bumper or something else. I burned 4 rolls of film, about 90 pictures, and got 60 that were worth posting. We had good lighting that day, also, with the sun behind us. Had a lot of trouble with Kevin's roll pictures, too much contrast and a cheap scanner, but they did not come out too bad.
I kind of just pick a good perch, focus and pull the trigger. Camera does the rest. Kevin, Mark and Rick put on a good show, and that helps also ;)

Who is the guy with the 800? It looks like Curtis's rig but with less dents and not camoflauge:p

My goodness Hooper....I've rarely seen such cropping in photos...great layout, framing, and composition. Beautiful pictures are not snapshots. Good job. Did you use an SLR or....

Ummm, I'm in a bit of a quandry on this one. Now, is Damian yanking my chain over my propensity for prolific posting of pictures which I am quite obviously proud of, or did he miss the part above where I said I used an SLR?
OK, OK, despite my protestations to the contrary, I take a pretty good picture. Course, I don't know how many thousands of rolls of pictures I have taken, and 99 percent of them are junk. Usually if I get one really good photo per roll, I am happy. Yes, I am vain, I have a book of my *really nice* photo's that I show my guests when they come by to visit.
So, I can't wheel worth squat, but I can take pretty good pictures of others' wheeling ;) Always figured a sweet job would be as photographer for a big magazine, touring the country visiting all the big shows, taking pictures, and getting paid for it all!!!
Course, I bet those photographers don't get paid much.... ;)
So, to answer my own question, I think you missed the part where I said I use an SLR.
Canon T-50, autowind, 2+frames per second. Auto shutter speed control (optional manual). Two lenses, one is a zeiss 75-210 zoom, the other is a zeiss 35 - 75 zoom, large aperature lens. Both are manual focus (I really, really don't like auto focus lenses. I'd rather decide what I focus on, not the lens)
The advantage of the smaller lens is that it allows so much light in, because of the large aperature that it freezes action really well, even with 200 speed film, keeps objects in motion from blurring.
Most of these pictures were with the 75-210. It has better optics and a faster zoom slide.
