I'm trying to find a spare tire carrier to fit in the rear bed of my 90 Samurai. Placing it on the tail gate is not an option due to the space already being used.
What is everyone else using in this situation? I have a 35" spare tire.
I found a very nice one called the "Rat Cage". But, it's pricey ($300+). If I could find a cheaper version, I'd jump on it.

Doing a search for "Rat Cage" turned up a million posts from the owner of Rock 4x4 Fab. I see he has a tire holder on his site for a good price. But, not for a Samurai...

Something as simple as this is $300+!

Low buck (non bLinG!) way would be to use your stock mount, with some minor fab work mounted to the bed.

What is the back spacing on the wheel?
I made my own and no longer need it. It was made for a wheel with a 2 1/2 inch BS. Would probably work with more. It bolts to the floor in the bed.
Needs cleaning too.
I'll sell it to you for $20 plus shipping.

I have an update and a TON of install pictures.
Here it the link to all of them...

The original did not come with countersunk bolts/holes. I changed that...

The center is exactly in the center of the cross bar...

The cross bar is the one on the right...

Drill through both the bed and cross bar. Drill the bolt holes.

I glued a stack of washers together to place between the bed and cross bar...to make it a solid mounting point.

Add another stack of washers to the top side to meet the mounting bracket...

Here is what the underside will look like...

If you are wondering why I did not mount it on the rear gate, I have other ideas for that area...
