Just looking for info on these things. I know they got the crapy c-clip but can some one tell me the stats. like Ring gear size, spline count, axle shaft size, do they have a 3rd pinion bearing like their big brother, how does clearence measure up to other axles. Any other general info would be great.

P.S. I did the search and didnt have much luck. Thanks in advance for the info

9.5" Ring gear
NO 3rd pinion bearing
Not positive on the spline count and diameter but i think they are like 31 spline and 1.45"

Thanks for the info Rockslut, can anybody confirm the specs on the shafts. Sound like these things are chevys weak version of the ford 9"

9.5" Ring gear, '82 and up models were 33 splined, 1.37" axle diameter. Essentially its GM's version of the Semi-float Dana 60.

Good gear choice, ARB available.

Clearance is better then a 60 I think, but not sure. Not really comparable to the 9" since it has regular pinion placement and non-removable 3rd member.

Available in 6 lug and 8 lug, believe the 8 lug was the only available with oem disc brakes.

Good solid axle, especially with disc brakes, you won't loose a wheel even with c-clips.

Seems like a decent choice for GMs and big tire, light weight vehicles.

Nah.. I had a lousy 3/4 2wd service truck once... 4.3 liter to boot... 8 lug and drums that would take miles to slow the truck down...

Sorry worded that poorly. I don't believe the 6 lug was ever availble with factory disc brakes. (found on pre '99 2500 light duty and 1500 hd models)
The '99 and up 2500, 1500 HD and '01 and up 2500HD had oem disc brakes and 8 lug wheels. (6.0L only models)

The SF 14 bolts are still available?

Uh huh, all 6.0L came with them I belive, although not 100% sure on Denalis, Escalades and C Series. Also the H2 has one with the oem E-Locker.

RD40 is the ARB locker part #
Detroit, Lock-Rite, Auburn and Eaton also have offerings, West Coats gear has 4.88s availble.

Pinion Shaft Diameter: 1.876"
