Summit Machine's Flex Joint is going on five years of perfection. You will not find a Higher quality better functioning "Cartridge style" joint than the Summit Machine Flex Joint.
Our quality can not be beat. Our product also can not be beat. Our joints thread together all the time every time. Even after welding. Lets just say, our products are designed and inspected to MIL standards.
To dispel a few myths recently published, our joint is not weaker due to the spiral retaining ring we use. The part is designed and manufactured to the specifications of the retaining ring manufacturer engineers. It is used to ease assembly and maintenance of the joints.
Second, our race is "Hollow" (injection molded) per our design. We mold our race so we can get our proprietary nylon mixture for our product. It has undergone years of study and perfection. These races along with our ultra smooth machined and Nickel plated pivot ball achieve ultra long service life and lube-less "if you choose" performance. I have been running Flex Joints on the Summit TJ for 2-1/2 years with no service, no grease ever, and they are still as tight as the day they were assembled.
We offer four sizes now (two will be debuted at EJS) to fill the entire spectrum of needs.
We have our:
Small Flex Joint- 2" OD 2" mounting width with either a 3/8" or 12mm bore ball. These are perfect for Jeep XJ/TJ/JK front upper control arms or XJ/TJ/JK track bars.
Medium Flex Joint- 2-3/8" OD 2-5/16" mounting width with a 9/16" - 14mm bore ball. These are perfect for Jeep JK rear upper control arms or Toyota FJ cruiser rear control arms.
Large Flex Joint- 2-5/8" OD 2-5/8" mounting width with a 9/16" bore ball. These are perfect for Jeep XJ/TJ/JK lower control arms. Or about anything you want.
Extra Large Flex Joint- 3" OD 3" mounting width with a 5/8" bore ball. These are designed as a budget rebuild-able joint for larger vehicles.
The Medium size is completely new and should fill a gap out there now. We are bringing the XL joint out of hibernation. We designed this joint 3 years ago for CAGE off road but were never able to meet all of the needs as far as size went. They wanted something that was not attainable in there specified criteria. The XL joint was what we could make happen and they choose to continue with hiems. Oh well better late than never I guess.
The small, large, and extra large Flex Joints, all achieve 35 Degrees of misalignment. The medium is a little less than that due to design constraints.
Our Flex Joints are being used by Full Traction Suspensions, T & T Customs, Rock Slide Engineering, and Toys by Troy in their production lift kits. Our product is available Nation wide through our extensive dealer network.
