.....FINALLY!!!!

Came home tonight to find 138 lbs. of sculpted steel and se..... er.. uh... my wheels. I ordered them back in June and they were two weeks late getting here, but they are finally here. US Wheels custom 3" BS 15x8 5 on 5.5". They are bare unfinished steel and they arrived with a tad bit of surface rust on them, but nothing a little Metal Ready won't take care of. Now I gotta decide weather to get them powder coated with black satin or just paint the damn things before I wrap the 36x12.5 SX's around them. They all measured out the same and none of them appear to be bent despite the fact that the packages looked like they were air dropped onto my deck without a chute! I bought 5 and the total weight was 138 lbs which works out to 27.6 lbs each. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is that in order to get 3" BS, they inverted the center section so now the wide 'safety' bead is on the outside of the wheel.

Well it's about time they get here. Want to use my bars to get them SX's mounted....again :flipoff2: I'll be gone all weekend, but you can try it solo and get the tools before Friday if you'd like, and use the parts washer.

TORC, Get 'em powder coated. Just had mine done, a light grey, looks good. That stuff is tough. I whacked 'em hard with a 16 oz ball peen hammer and it dented the metal without a scratch on the paint. Only cost me $20 per.

I'll be sellin' 'em soon. Just switched to 8 lug.

Looks like they will get the paint treatment. The local crack smoker....er, uh, I mean powder coater wants $50 per wheel. A bit steep if you ask me..... I will probably just use a good epoxy paint or something.....

15x8 5 on 5 1/12 I thought that the wider the tire the wider the wheel. I thought that you would want the wider wheel to stop the side roll from the narrow wheel. I know this is true on the road but wouldn't it also be true on the trail? You don't want the tire to roll under the wheel at low pressure because it would pop the bead easier than with a wider wheel Some one please correct me if I am wrong on my thinking so I know what wheels to use when I pick up my boggers next week.

Well, they are TSL SX's.... bias ply and pretty damn stiff. I am also planning on adding the "Rockstomper" style weld on beadlocks down the road. That add about an inch or so to the wheel width. If I started out wide, then they would be too wide after I added the beadlocks....

Lots of folks run an 8" wheel on 12.5" wide tires to help keep the bead from popping. Like a poor man's beadlock in a sence. I had 10" rims on my last set of tires and run 8's now. I want to do the sme as TORC down the road and run the weld on beadlocks as well. Or some bling bling champions :D
