I have heard about this event for awhile now and always wanted to do it but now that I have a dirtbike (yes a dirtbike) i have heard that this is now longer going on. I read something about the Sierra Club, and sensitive desert lands??? Anyone know anything about this at all. Me and a couple friends want to do this run, or if you know of any other good runs like this please let me know. Thanks Pete

Go dig around on the district 37 site. They have a dual sport run that follows some trails from Barstow to Vegas, but thats about as close as you will get. My dad used to race Barstow 2 Vegas when I was just a tike. I'll never forget the start of the race.

The B2V was canceled in I think 85 or 86. There was a protest ride for awhile until that got squeezed out also. like Jeff said the start was cool to see, 2 or more rows a 100 riders long dead engine start, when the banner dropped you hoped your bike started on the first kick then head for the smoke bomb to the single track. good times

Last actual race for B to V was in 89 as I recall--damn fun race event. I raced my cheater 88 RM 295 in that one lol! Remember the old smoke bomb starts--I recall they went to a strobe light as being more environmentally safe but you could not see the light sometimes if you were in a lot of dust lol! Always on Thanksgiving weekend. Never done the event since but I do believe you need a street legal bike these days to do the ride.
