I have a bunch.... i mean alot..... of the metal 1/4" thick center cut out of beadlocks and rim stiffeners that I'm ready to just load up and take to the junk heep.

Would anybody be interested in a few of them for targets. Ill sell them cheap, like 2 bucks a piece plus a little shipping.

Any interest?

any rifle is going to go clean through them but for pistols they may be fun. i think shipping would kill any interest i would have in them.

what are the diameters?

Copperhead Fab
03-12-2008, 09:20 AM
varies from 8" up to 12" in diameter.

PM or shoot me an email if interested.

shipping shouldn't be too bad. I'm thinking for 5 of them it would run about 10 bucks to ship.

Are these just mild steel or do they have any hardness to them? Either way, I'll take 5 or so.

Hell buy some cold rolled and make metal swinging targets and sell them on here if there is that much interest. Maybe make them where you can take them apart so shipping isn't such a hassle.

IF there is that much interest, right now I'm just trying to get rid of these things.

I will make the effort to go to the post office and ship them in the flat rate box if you order 20 or more.

I just Paypal'd Copperhead for a full fate-rate box of plates, and even mix of 8" and 12" plates.

My plans for them are to build some individual plate targets (rebar staked into the ground) for our local club. They're simple as hell to build.

Look at the plates about 0:20 into this video, when Ray's shooting his Open Glock 35. That's what I'm building.

i wouldn't buy any mild steel targets. i may throw some together with scrap knowing that they will get destroyed though. i would use a minimum of t1 for pistol targets that i planned on keeping and ar500 for rifle targets.

5.56 on 1/4" mild steel at about 100 yards:

300 win mag on 3/4" t1 steel at about 100 yards (the one that went through was at about 100 yards, the others were probably over 400 yards):

5.56 on 3/4" mild steel at around 100 yards (i think there are a couple fresh impacts from 300 win mag at 400+ yards also but most of the major damage was from 5.56):

The only thing I use steel targets for is rimfire. I love swinging targets with rimfires it makes me smile. PAT...DING giggling ensues.

If you shoot steel, you need to use lead bullets only and MAKE SURE YOU USE EYE PROTECTION.

I shoot steel a couple times a month at cowboy action shoots.

Also, when you build a plate stand, you need to tilt the plate toward the ground to deflect lead splash downward.

Here are some east to build stands that I like.

Here is what they look like from the firing line
You had to carry your girl friend (the bear) through the whole stage.
Trying loading and shooting a double barrel and functioning a lever gun while holding the damn thing. It is a wonder I didn't catch it on fire.

I'm surprised yall weren't carrying a stuffed sheep...it'd have been much more realistic then

It would have been too easy due to everyone's experience "on the farm" and it may ahve been to sensuous and racy.
No one wants to see a bunch old guys with boners, dressed like a cowboys, carrying a sheep, shooting guns.

even with lead bullets I had to have a sizable piece of .45acp dug out of my chest a few years back from shooting a homemade steel target that was at a range I go to. Think it deflected off the plate into the frame and back into me.

Had the pleasure of seeing that kind of goings on today... Went out to see what the .45-70 would do and wouldn't ya know it but the Gallatin County Regulars were having their monthly shoot down range. So now Ive got my sights set on a cap n' ball in either .38 or .44... Damnable addiction BP is! :shaking::D

We did manage to do a little plinking at 435 yds despite the distraction... :D :D

These things are heaver then i thought. I can only fit 5 of the wheel centers in a flat rate box safely.
