4.88s would be best if you drive it on the street in my opinion, which would be the lowest you can go assuming you have a D30 front. If you don't wheel a whole lot 4.56 gears might work for you but if you ever decide to go to a larger tire size they won't work too well anymore with the 4.0 and auto.
Also, get good gears, not the genuine gear junk
4.56 is what i suspected. what would you buy? i dont care about cost as much as quality.

I've got yukons in the front and Precisions in the rear right now and both were easy to set up and have run great for everything. Brand is going to be more of a personal preference but I'd just stay away from genuine gear products in general. They are cheaper, though only about $30 less than precision gears or yukons anyway

oh wait this isn't the general forum.
I would suggest 4:88s for your 36s.
I have 4:88s for my 35s and really like them. I drive mostly around town, to and from school and like the quick starts. The freeway is just fine I can hold 70mph-75 no problem. I can hold a steady 70mph up some pretty steep grades also.
I also have Precision Gears.
good luck!

x2. 4:56s with 33's are just right but for 36's you'll want the 4:88 gears
